In the history of Bossa Nova the work of Bud Shank is often over-looked. He had been playing bossa nova for a decade when "The Girl From Ipanema" was recorded. Though these are not his early bossa nova recordings these are the hardest to find. In years of searching for CD versions of these recordings this is the sole collection that I have encountered. I purchased this as a Spanish import years ago and was just browsing Amazon when, to my surprise, I saw that this was available again. In my experience this is one of those CDs that you just buy when you see it because it will be gone before you know it. If you don't like it you can always sell it for a profit down the road! But you are only reading this because you are either a Bud Shank fan or a bossa nova fan or both--a guarantee that this will be a pleasure for you.
