I painted a ceiling with this that had a LOT of popcorn beads on it, so even though those pesky things did get into the roller, it still performed at 100%. I did clean the roller and after I got all of that pesky popcorn stuff out of it, looks like brand new. I highly recommend this roller for any moderately rough surface.
