Good staples with diagonal cut tips for hard substrates

Size: 1/4 Inch Verified Purchase

Due to a review given by an individual on the #506 (3/8") staples claiming
the design had changed, I thought a bit of clarification of tip design
was appropriate.
The 1/4" #504, 5/16" #505, and 3/8" #506 staples have diagonal (45 deg.) cut tips for
penetrating hard surfaces (Like roof felt when stapling to plywood).
The 1/2" #508 staples have a different tip design that is flat and chiseled.
This is for softer surfaces (substrates) that require a longer grip.
In my roof sample, you would never use a 1/2" staple to hold down paper felt,
and if you need a staple to hold the shingle edges down, you would use professional
1" crown staples with a pneumatic gun.
In a pinch, if you are stapling down a shingle that has flapped up, us the 3/8" #506
and not the 1/2" #508, with a hammer stapler, as all you will get with the 1/2" flat
chisel staples is frustrated, and make a mess.

staples seems fine but be aware

These staples DO NOT FIT older Craftsman staple gun model 968472 despite the description saying it fits other brands such as Craftsman, etc. These are a 3/8" crown (width), older Craftsman guns apparently have a 1/2" crown (width). I take some responsibility for not measuring myself first and just relying on the Amazon description.

cheaper at hardware store

works perfectly with my manual spring-loaded staple gun Craftsman Stapler Easyfire and my new pneumatic one Surebonder 9600, Heavy Duty Staple Gun with Case.

I later saw these staples available at my local hardware store for around $2.50-$3 (in all sizes, not just this size.)

However, I'm glad I got these from amazon because they arrived at the same time as my new stapler and I could get to work immediately. So five stars for quality and convenience, minus one for price.

arrow staples arrow fastener arrow brand all garbage.

I was hesitant to write a review on this item as I was not sure if the poor quality was in the arrow brand fastener or the arrow staples. I have come to the conclusion that both are poor quality items. the staples are too loose and come apart inside the fastener causing jams very frequently. the arrow brand fastener was garbage and broke as well. based off these two purchases this seems to be a brand to avoid.

I liked the extra 1/16 to secure my outdoor extension cord ...

I already had the 508 staples. What I learned is the last digit is the staple length in 1/16 inch increments. So the 508 is a 1/2 inch bite staple and the 509 is a 9/16 bite. I liked the extra 1/16 to secure my outdoor extension cord in a loop onto my house next to the outlet for neatness. The extra length really worked. Good staples.
