My 91 year old mother can hear this phone ring with it's two-bell ringer. In fact, it's too loud. I'm going to put tape around one of the bells to reduce the volume of the ring. She often does not hear the high-pitched, electronic, chirping phones. The built-in amplifier with rotary volume control built into the handset is very intuitive to use. She becomes confused with the multi-purpose loudness buttons on cordless phones. The amplifier produces a very loud, very clear sound. The phone is heavy which is very important. The phone does not slide off the table when the coiled cord is stretched. It doesn't slide around when punching in a phone number. The buttons are large and well spaced. She has trouble with the small, closely-spaced buttons on most phones, but she has no problem at all with this phone. She sometimes hung up her Trimline phone backwards resulting in an emergency visit because she couldn't be reached by phone. This phone is all but impossible to hang up incorrectly. And it is beautiful. It is a glossy, red phone that really catches the eye. It was brand new. Satisfaction rating? Completely satisfied. And it cost considerably less on Amazon than the first one did which I bought directly from an online dealer in Cortelco phones. Finally, it works when the power fails, unlike most cordless phones. She has it at her bedside. If the power fails during a storm, she can still call for help.
UPDATE: WORKED FOR ONLY 2 WEEKS. THEN THE CARBON MICROPHONE CARTIRDGE HAD TO BE REPLACED. MY MOTHER HAD TO DO WITHOUT IT FOR ABOUT 9 MONTHS UNTIL I COULD GET BACK TO MISSOURI TO DIAGNOSE THE PHONE. I HAPPENED TO HAVE AN OLD PHONE I COULD SWAP THE MICROPHONE CARTRIDGE WITH. A SECOND ONE OF THESE PHONE, IDENTICAL IN EVERY WAY, THAT I PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM CORTELCO ARRIVED DOA. IT WOULD NOT GET A DIAL TONE, RING OR DO ANYTHING AT ALL. APPARENTLY THE PRIMARY CIRCUIT BOARD IS DEFECTIVE.

I review everything before we buy. We ordered this phone because of the need for a loud ringer, and the color. It was made in the USA. We are so disappointed. The phone does not work properly, sitting on a surface, you can't hear the phone ring. When you lift the phone sideways you hear it ring; when you hold the receiver and hold it up straight in the air it rings. Now we are praying the company makes good on doing a timely repair and shipping it back to us. We did have to pay for shipping back to the company.

My mother is 97 and although still very mobile has early on set dementia, plus her fingers do not work as well as they use to. She has problems with "To many Buttons" and starts to push everything on a device if it seems to be not working for her. A TV control is even worse. For years she had a phone "Just like this one" simple to use....pick up, Hello....then good by and hang it up. The volume control is also very simple for her when I say...Mom...turn your volume up. She does not wander around her AL apartment and misplace it in a couch somewhere and she can not easily knock it off her night stand.

Color of the phone is true as shown, nice gloss red. Phone is way lighter than expected, seems to also be a lighter plastic as i was really expecting a solid heavy phone, more like the traditional original one, not the case here. Sound quality is great, has volume adjust for earpiece and ring which is nice. Buttons are soft but its not a bad thing, they are easy to press. Overall the phone is worth the price no doubt, as mentioned above, my only gripe is that i would have really liked it more had it been a heavier thicker plastic.

I bought this product for my home, but ultimately gave it to my parents, who spend more time on the phone than I do and appreciate the well-shaped receiver, big buttons, and loud ringer. They both suffer from hearing loss -- this phone is so much better than trying to struggle through a cell phone convo with them. I recommend this for anyone with a home office/etc. There are ways to connect your cell to this phone, which is infinitely more comfortable than trying to hold a cell phone between your head and shoulder.

It's a very light-weight copy of the real thing--feels like a toy telephone. There's a static noise and I have to speak loudly and directly into the mouthpiece. When I called the vendor to complain he said that it sounded fine to him and wouldn't give me a refund. It doesn't have a redial button. The one star is for the color--it's a pretty red.

The ringer on this phone is a mechanical bell -- and it works poorly. The striker inside is a small ball that's stuck onto the end of a magnet and is excited by an electromagnet when the phone line rings. The ball taps on one of the bells very lightly and doesn't have enough reach to hit the second bell. If you have patience, you can unscrew the cover, call yourself and adjust the distances between the ball and bells to make them both sound. I found a piece of excess plastic from the mold that wasn't properly trimmed away at the factory. The excess plastic prevented the ball from striking one of the bells -- so I trimmed it up. I've tried this phone on both my land line service and my voice-over-IP service -- and neither service can make this phone ring properly. In my opinion, the bell needs a new design and should have been adjusted at the factory before being shipped out. Good luck if you choose to adjust the bell on your own.
