I am replacing an ADDA brushless dc 12v 0.07a 1 ballbearing, model AD0412LB-G70 fan. The ADDA fan whines loudly and is new.

The fan that Startech sent is a Young Lin Tech dc 12v 0.06a 1 bearing + sleeve, model DFC401012M fan. The fan is rated at 5400 rpm, is 0.07w, has an airflow of 5.62 cfm and for noise is 24.87 dB. This information can be found on site at: en.yltc.cn>products>4010. This is a 4010 series fan.

Of course, the terminated connector is wrong. I had to carefully remove the plastic conector by depressing the metal tangs of the terminated ends. I then checked to see if the ends would fit onto the pins from the PCB. It did and I then put shrink fit onto the metal ends for protection. The PCB is indicated with a + so that I was able to know to put the red wire there so as not to reverse the connection.

Currently the fan is very quite and is working. Time will tell how long the fan will work. I used to buy these fans for $2 at the PC show and with the correct connector...lol, but being that I now have to pay for gas, parking and to enter the show, it's a good buy.

If chimera's statement and one star rating is correct then his model may be a DFS and not a DFC. It is possible to have the wrong item sent to you. It has happened to me more than once.

I needed to replace a the fan that was going bad in a INOI external hard drive and DVD enclosure. When looking at it I was a bit bummed as the leads were much shorter and I wasn't sure it would work. After a bit of rotating the fan in it's intended resting spot the leads actually reached but it wouldn't work. After closer inspection I noticed that the red/black leads were reversed from the fan I was replacing so after figuring that out it now works just perfect. The fan I had used a sleeve bearing that was rather noisy and this one is ball bearings and is much quieter.

I bought a pair of these to replace the tiny fans on my two removable hard drive trays, because these fans were the only ones that would fit the existing connector and into the mounting area - without me first having to make further mods to the trays themselves.

One of the fans I replaced had a nasty ball bearing problem, which was making the most God-awful noises! At first, I thought it was actually the HARD DRIVE making the noise, but it turned out to be just that tray's fan. It also helps quite a bit when you pay extra close attention to the connectors. If THEY don't match, then you're flippin' screwed!

The fans also match the brand of my drive trays as well, which is indeed StarTech, and they run fairly quietly. If there was a way I could order these in bulk, and get a discount on each fan instead of having to pay the lofty price I paid for just two, that would be fantastic!

Picture shows a fan labelled "ball bearing"; description says "This replacement ball bearing fan". This fan is plastic on plastic--NO BALL BEARINGS, not even a sleeve bearing.
