Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Based on the game Turn and Burn for the Super NES, F-14 Tomcat is an air-combat sim that puts players in the cockpit of an F-14 Tomcat. Your job is to patrol the not-so-friendly skies and to shoot down any pilot dumb enough encroach on your territory. You're armed with a 20 mm cannon and a few air-to-air missiles to take out enemy fighters and transport planes. The game offers cockpit and rear views, as well as support for up to three other players via the separately sold communication cable.

Product Description

Cartridge Only Ease into the cockpit of your Grumman F-14 for 16 grueling missions, enforcing a no-fly zone over the stretch of ocean separating Taiwan and China. Enemy aircraft, submarines, and battleships are out to gun you down, and some of them are frightfully well-armed. Luckily your F-14 is no slouch in the armament department either, with a large array of state-of-the-art missiles, 20mm cannons, and cluster bombs at its disposal. The Grumman can also track bogeys with its radar system, while you can track your flight path using the in-game terrain map. While superficially a flight sim, gunning down the enemy is the heart of F-14 Tomcat.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but not good., April 6, 2004
Middle of the road is a term you could use for this game. It's graphically ok, with mediocre gameplay. Not bad for the price, but you can do better.

2.0 out of 5 stars No Flying Start Here., November 7, 2001
I had great expectations for this game. I felt I had done my "homework", I read all the reviews did a little research on the developers, etc., but this was not enough. I was sort of expecting a game with similar characteristics as the NES "Top Gun", I may be going back a little too far for some of you gamers out there, but that was a great flying/shoot'em up game for those of you who can remember and I grew particularly fond of the carrier landing part after every mission (oh, the adrenalin!). Well, I am sorry to say that this game falls way short of delivering even a fifth of what that game delivered. While the graphics are fine, the actual game play is....well.... just not right, as for the carrier landing after the mission, they are a joke! I would recommend you look else where to spend you hard earn money . There are plenty of great GBA games out there (i.e. Mario Kart and Advanced Wars) that are worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Flight Sim Out For GBA, November 27, 2002
By A Customer
This game by far is the best combat flight sim out for the gba. It has what it takes for a great flight sim weapons, very good flight contrals, sound, and awsome graphics. But the story is not very deep you are sent out to recontral UN airspace. Other than the story the missions are ok but so unorignal. The missions are things like blow up 3 boogies, fire a cruise missle, and destroy 5 subs. Don't get me wrong there fun but nothing new to any old flight sim.
The contrals are easy to pick up on and the weapons are ok to pick up. The sound is oh so sweet to the ears. There's no music but you can hear the difference between low engine power and high engine power. Thuds of bullets and wizzes of missles hurled at you and the ones you fire.
The weapons contrals feel very good to me as if I were realy flying in one. The graphics are like that of a ps1 sim. There great, and you can see the engade enmies in front of you they're very fine and neat.
You get weapon upgrades every new level so you have something to look forward to.
Overall it's a game that has tremends replay value and great graphics.
