5.0 out of 5 stars Mindless fun!, August 22, 2001
By A Customer
I imported this game and am glad I did. Who cares that I can not read the cut scenes, you don't play a game like this for the story. This game has an unlock feature that grants you secrets the more you play. You get 2 extra fighters, 4 extra colors for outfits, level select, and up to 9 lives. These unlock very quickly and are not much of a challenge to get. Controls are tight and graphics are very good. Great color use, but might be too dark. I'd say this is my fav GBA game. Like I said mindless fun. It also has muliple difficulty settings, easy, normal, hard, very hard and super hard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Final Fight on GBA? Unbelievable!, September 26, 2001
By Jeffray Chung (Manchester United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Remember original Final Fight on the arcade and the SNES? Well, Capcom did it again! Youhou! Being 23 years these days I really don't give damn about whether people think I'm still a kid playing Final Fight on my GBA. This game makes me nostalgic because it reminds me of the early 90's - then I was still 13 - when I started going to arcades. FF was one of the best two-players beat-them-all of these times. Concurrently, Nintendo was doing great in the world of video gaming with the SNES. Capcom decided to release the game - Final Fight Guy - on the console, but unfortunately it was a failure in my opinion since it was only a one-player game and worse, one of the characters was missing.

Capcom didn't leave the series (after FF Guy) to rest by releasing Final Fight 2 and Final Fight, which both added the two-players mode and the 3rd character. However, the two sequels were still missing a few features present in the arcade version. They were not massive hits but they sure satisfied the FF desire.

Now, Final Fight - Final Fight One - is making a come back on the GBA, which is definitely going to be a promising hit this time. The portable version of this game will be a direct translation from the arcade version with all the missing characters, bosses and levels now all fully intact, which are excellent news to fans of the original FF like me.

In case you are not familiar with the FF genre, the game - as one of the three selectable characters - consist of kicking everyone's ... and of cleaning the streets up of the massive saturation of Mad Gear gang members, as the leader has kidnapped the mayor's daughter. Using brute force, you have to mop up the floor with these guys in order to advance through the city. And at the end of each level, there'll be a big fat *ss waiting for you and it'll be up to you to beat the ... out of him. However, the game involves some strategies if you don't want to finish off all your lives and continues, so don't just use your special attack because this consumes stamina and be careful when there are a lot of enemies on screen and mainly when fighting the bosses.

The game is also a two-players game (via the link cable), which is the whole point of a FF game. You get to choose one character amongst the 3 selectable ones. Each of them have their own style of attacks and special moves, so choose wisely to make a perfect team of FF fighters to make your way through the Metro City streets. The only downside of the two-players game is that each player must have his own cartridge to play the game. But who cares it's Final Fight guys!!! It's a must to have whether you are new to the genre or a fan like me. Just BUY IT as soon as it's out on the 28th September.

STRONGLY RECOMMENDED! Just buy the game or sell your GBA!

4.0 out of 5 stars FF, October 4, 2001
By "null242" (riverside, ca) - See all my reviews
Great translation of the classic CAPCOM fighter. Some small effects are missing(swinging rails on the subway, level transition seens), and the normal NINTENDO censorship(no women thugs). Capcom seems they tried to upgrade the music, but should have kept the original scores. Sound effects are perfect, even better than the SNES, and up to par with the original arcade. Graphics are awesome, Cody, Guy, and Haggar are done well.
