My family and I loved the catchy and humorous songs on this album. The favorites being "Dad Threw the TV out the Window" and "You're in Trouble". Our cassette tape wore out from over use and now we are purchasing a replacement plus several other Harley albums. He is a gifted storyteller using a kids point of view to both entertain and teach at the same time.

Format: Audio Cassette
My kids (then aged 5 & 7) first listened to this cassette on a long car trip to Grandmas. They had it memorized by the time we arrived. They and I appreciate the humor and the way Bill Harley puts his finger on the ups and downs of family life. For example a son's "I gotta watch this show" that prompts Dad to throw the TV out the window, and how that changes the family's home life. The kids empathize with the "You're in Trouble" as what kid hasn't been in deep trouble at one time or another, and they joyfully sing "There's No School Today!" about a snow day, even in summer. I like "What's Cool in School" which is about trying to be cool and finally realizing that what is "cool" for you is what you like, not what other kids say is cool. My now 10 year old still enjoys this cassette, and my three year old dances to the catchy music. I am now buying it for my 6 year old nephew. In our family, Bill Harley, Tom Chapin, John McCutcheon, and Robert Muench's stories on tape are our long trip staples, enjoyed by kids and parents.

My 8 year old loves this CD! The "Dad threw the TV out the window" makes him laugh! The songs are funny and enjoyable to listen too- I highly recommend it!

When I was very small - 3 or 4 and up - we listened to this tape non-stop. My sister (three years my elder) and I thought Bill Harley was the funniest guy - and we loved all of his songs! Guess What: 15 years later we still make references to it! Every once in a while, a family member will break out into "When my parents came home...they hit the roof!" (You're in Trouble) or we'll make reference to his many stories. I have fond memories of this tape driving down with my dad to Indian Princesses with the YMCA. The cd itself is funny (though parents may want to hide it after awhile) and the songs really stick with you!

Format: Audio CD
If you want to have something to play in your car that everybody will agee on, try this. Our favorites are "You're In Trouble" and "I'm Busy" since they capture that illusive relationship between parents and children. When the parent refuses to listen to his child in "I'm Busy" he gets eaten by the monster that the child is trying to warn him about. That ought to teach you to listen to your kids!
