This is NOT intended to be used to cool a drink down from room temperature, but to take one that is already at refrigerator cool and cool it down more to near-ice-cold temperatures quickly and keep there for an hour or so. For that purpose it is excellent.

This works fine for a wide range of container sizes. Because the inner cooler-slush pouches are in sections, different diameter containers slide in and the pouches squeeze around the container sides to fit tightly. I've used it with the standard 12 oz can as well as 12 oz, 16 oz, 1/2 liter, and even up to 20 oz bottles. And from tall skinny longneck beers to short squat soda bottles, It will probably be too loose on containers narrower than a longneck, and a 20 oz soda bottle is about the largest it can take.

The cooler takes about an hour or two to go from room temperature to fully charged, and when put around an already refrigerated drink, it will cool it even more to "ice-cold" temperature and then keep it cold for an hour or so.

Again, it doesn't have the cooling capacity to cool a room temperature drink down to refrigerated temperatures, so it's not a replacement for already keeping your drinks in the refrigerator, but if you're like me and prefer your drinks cooler than refrigerator temperatures, this is excellent, especially if you don't like your drinks watered down by melting ice!

I use these to replace a need for a coozy. They work great to keep a beer cold especially outside in the Texas heat. I use two of them so I can rotate. I can't say how they would do to get a beer cold from room temperature since I have never used them for that purpose but they work great to keep a beer cold. In fact it seems like the beer gets colder than if it was taken straight out of the fridge. I just wish it had some kind of bottom. Maybe just a strap would work and still allow it to fold. I find that some bottles want to slide out if you don't hold it tight enough.

I got these as a small gift for my husband for Christmas. When he opened them, there sure was a puzzled look on his face! As soon as I explained what they were for though, into the freezer they went.

We used them to keep refrigerated beer in cans and bottles ice cold. They do really work! I have not tried to use it on room temperature drinks, so I really cannot testify whether or not that would work. I love how cold they keep the beer though -- always hate getting lukewarm beer at the end of a bottle.

They are really pretty interested feeling. The have little pockets of the fluid on the inside that sit right against the can or bottle. That part is cold feeling. The outside is surprisingly not cold feeling at all! It works like a coozie and you don't have a freezing cold hand along with cold beer.

Pretty impressed at this neat little product, and I would recommend it if you like your beer COLD.

This interesting gel pack can and bottle holder has both good and bad qualities. First the good qualities. It has some stretch to it, so it can hold just about any beer or soda can or bottle, -12 ounce to 20 ounce, and it is tall enough to be usable on both cans and bottles. 7.5 ounce cans are too small and will fall through the bottomless holder. The holder folds flat so it doesn't take up much space in a freezer. The frozen gel stays cold enough to get you through one already cold can of beer, -two cans if you use a cold thin-skinned can holder as a liner. Lately, to maintain the shape of the holder, I have been leaving the liner and an empty can in the holder and placing them in the freezer. Now the not so good qualities. The outside surface is a smooth glossy flexible plastic, and with room condensation on the outside of the holder, it becomes very slippery to hold onto. I added three large rubber bands to it about an inch apart from each other to give me something to hold onto that would not slip out of my hand. Use #33, 3 1/2" x 1/8", or even better, #64, 3 1/2" x 1/4" rubber bands. I even added a folded cloth handkerchief under the rubber bands to provide insulation against hand warmth. The gel pack is a flexible tube and does not have a bottom to it, so in order to drink from it, you have to push the can up about an inch above the top of the holder, and maybe even twist the can so that the can mouth lines up with one of the six internal flat-sided gel packs. This holder is a novelty item, and definitely needs a non-slip outer surface. Perhaps the maker could improve future models by manufacturing the outside of the holder with a pebbled or ribbed non glossy surface. A molded rib on the inside could be added to keep a 12 ounce can at the correct height.Read more ›

My husband loves these coolers. They keep beverages chilled for hours. He obviously uses them for when he wants to keep a second beer at hand. However, he also puts them in his gym bag for sports drinks. They are great for bike rides, quick trip to the beach or any other place where a cooler is too much to handle.

Useless product. Does not significantly cool down a beverage and does not stay cool longer than a half hour or so.

Was hoping they would work. Didn't seem to do much at all when I first tried them so I took out a thermometer to see what was going on. Put them in freezer. They got down to 7 degrees. Took a beer from the refridgerator and put it in the holder. The beer was at 39 degrees. Let it set on counter for 20 minutes. Measured temps again. Beer was now 34 degrees and the sleeve was now 34 degrees. Not a big improvement. Tried to drink beer while it was in sleeve. Awkward. Beer kept wanting to slide out of bottom. Slowly drank beer, hardest part of experiment!, within 10 minutes the sleeve was up to 50 degree from my holding it.

Also tried same with a beer at room temperature. Beer started out at 65 degrees. Sleeve started out at 7 degrees. After 15 minutes both the beer and the sleeve were at 57 degrees.

Cans and bottles behaved about the same.

Just my personal experience with them.
