I had a cheapo garlic press of this type that surprisingly lasted a long time. It fell apart in stages and finally died. I looked through all the garlic presses ... has to offer (there are many!) looking for this type--with the little removable grates. I absolutely LOVE this garlic press. Even older garlic which isn't 'crispy' crushes easily in it. It's very well made and nice looking; easy to clean too. I imagine it will last much longer than my cheapo one did--and that will make me very happy! Definitely a GREAT gift for anyone who cooks with garlic.

I've had this press for many years, perhaps 15 or 20 (not sure). It is a beast. You probably can not break it. It is easy to clean due to the removable screen. All the parts are stainless or good quality plastic. This tool has outlasted numerous other garlic presses in our kitchen and it is still my favorite. My wife finds it hard to use, however, due to her smaller hands, which is why we've tried some others. But this is the best garlic press you can but and it will be the last. Just don't lose the screens!

I really enjoy this garlic press (and I use a lot of fresh garlic!) I won't use aluminum, and this one is stainless steel. I like the TWO different size baskets. I planned on getting the self cleaning kind but since the baskets are easily removed, it's not such a big deal. I do worry a bit about keeping track of both baskets since they aren't attached in any way, but I still love this press!

Had one of these for years until it didn't make it through (inadvisably) trying to mince ginger with it. This model and design is the same and will last indefinitely when used for garlic. It's special feature is the option to do a coarse or fine press.

I used this garlic press over the holidays at my sister's. I'm buying her a new one because of how poorly it performed, I won't let her live like that. First the press basket is tiny, I needed to cut cloves in half to press. Second the baskets and press dont fit snugly so a lot of the garlic just came up the sides making a big mess. Finally cleaning is simply not that easy as your balancing little pieces and still need to clean the main unit since the garlic smeared all over the sides. To me a good garlic press lets you load it with 3+ plus cloves, press, get a tbsp+ of garlic, use an attached cleaner to push out the skin, run it under water and hang it to dry, your fingers stay clean, your garlic is pressed and your meal is tasty.

Perfect in every respect. Bought this as I lost my other screen.
