This can be used in place of the Kenwood PG-5G cable used to program Kenwood's TM-V71 ham radio. That cable is normally 30+ dollars, (plus shipping and/or tax), this was 13 bucks shipped to my door, is twice as long, and works exactly the same.

Kind of a no-brainer.

I have an old Alesis QS8 that lost all of its programs during a battery change. I was able to use this cable and a laptop to reprogram using the original programs on the Alesis web site. Worked perfectly!

This cable works when connecting to the data or communications port of the TM-D710 transceiver. Much more reasonable than the cable from Kenwoods.

Others had mentioned that I could use this cable to program an Kenwood TM-V71A Ham Radio. They were right. At this price, it's a no brainer.

If you're looking for this cable, you most likely have a Kenwood radio you want to connect to a computer for programming. This is the one you need. I've used this with the Kenwood program and CHIRP for my TM-V71A and it works flawlessly. Just make sure you watch where you're plugging it in, the two ports on the back are NOT the same, and you'll damage the pins on this if you try to force it into the wrong port (I almost did). You may be thinking 10' is a bit long, but consider that you might be programming the radio with a laptop while it's still in your vehicle one day- and you'll find that length will be nice.

I know this is not the intended use, but it works just fine without modification to program both the head-end unit and the base unit of the TM-D710A VHF/UHF dual-band amateur radio transceiver.

Bought this to use with my Kenwood D710 Ham Radio since the Kenwood cable is so expensive. This works just as well and is a very well made cable. Description claims it's discontinued so buy one while they're still around. I got the 10' cable to give more flexibility since it's mounted in my vehicle.

Like many others, I purchased this as an inexpensive alternative to a Kenwood PG-5G cable to program a TM-D710G. It works perfectly. Cable is well made and the long length is very nice. Highly recommended.
