I have loved Cross pens for many years. I have many of them, from a desk set to a variety of gold, black, and green pens that I have bought or been given for the last 40 years. But I can no longer get a GOOD REFILL. They don't write the first letter if unused for an hour or so, or they begin with a glob of ink (really fatal on an important document). When I write with a Cross pen now, I have to be sure to have an extra piece of paper to get it started.

A BALLPOINT PEN, NO MATTER HOW ELEGANT, IS NO BETTER THAN ITS REFILL. I have a 14k gold Cross pen that I never take out; it has a refill that is at least 35 years old, and writes like a dream. Likewise with the pen in my desk set. But refills that I have bought the last few years, fine, medium, and broad, are horrible. What is Cross doing wrong?

Since some reviewers have been critical of A. T. Cross brand-name pen refills, a few words in support may be useful. I purchased a two-pack from amazon, put one into my old but very sturdy Cross pen, and it writes like a dream. I'm a throwback who still uses blue ink and prefers broad points. The Cross blue is beautiful, and the refills, while labeled "medium", are broad enough to suit me. This simple pen is a great writing instrument.

These replacement blue refills in my opinion does not have the same quality as the refill inside a new pen. The writing quality is noticeably different with these refills compared to the original ones that comes with the pen. Price was reasonable so kept the product. Next time will buy the refill from cross website and will check its quality.

These cross refills are terrible. They have to be started before writing with them. The Ink does not flow evenly.
I have been using Cross pens and refills for over thirty years without any problems until I purchased these. Either Cross has a manufacturing problem or these refills are not made by Cross.

This may sound strange, but this pen refill ranks high to me as it is easy to write with: you don't have to use extra pressure to make the ink apply to the paper as compared to a generic Cross pen refill as well as no smears. That's worth the extra buck to me on buying an OEM refill vs. generic!

Bought original Cross refills - so I would continue to have the same writing pleasure as I had with the original.
The refills though don't write as smoothly. They are a lighter blue (dirty blue) and ink does not flow smoothly (as a result - you have to keep going back to complete words that are half-formed on paper).

Disappointed in the quality of CROSS.

I have a nice pen I was given as a present that I use for work daily, which uses these refills. I bought 4 refills locally, and 4 from Amazon ... out of 8 refills, only 2 would write reliably. The others skipped frequently and "blobbed" constantly. Don't waste your money - get Woodcraft instead - better quality for less money.

They began writing smooth as soon as I put a new one in. I like the blue Cross ink, it seems to have a distinct look to it. I had tried off-brand refills and they didn't screw in tight. These fit perfectly, and begin writing as soon as your pen touches the paper.

Good price, shipping was good - better protected than some reviewers have experienced.
