I teach art/craft classes and recently taught at an upscale venue for which I decided to put my instructional materials in report covers for a professional presentation. I bought a package of 5 (admittedly 'nice') report covers at a big box office supply chain for $7.99. The students were so thrilled I decided I would like to adopt this presentation for other classes where I have multiple pages of instructional material but a $1+ for each cover would make that prohibitive so I came to Amazon to see if I could find a less expensive alternative. Though these covers are more basic - no inside pockets or cutout for a business card - it is still a very nice alternative to handing out a stack of stapled papers. Though I wish the covers did have an inside pocket, their affordability makes them very attractive for most of my handouts, I like them enough that I just ordered a second 100 count box.

One thing I would like to address is a comment repeated by numerous other reviewers questioning the presence of some curious half circle cutouts near the spine that they found intrusive and seemingly unnecessary; I believe I've discovered their purpose. On the first few packets I made, I tucked the bundle of papers right up against the spine and found the slider bar, once in place, encroached on the text margins on the left side of the pages. I found if you push these half circle tabs towards the back side of the cover and 'nest' the pages in the resulting slots, this pushes the bundled papers out just enough that they are still securely caught in the slider but out far enough for the text to clear the bar. I don't know if this is what the manufacturer intended but it works great.

As any "Calvin and Hobbes" fan knows, you have to have one of these clear report covers to make your school reports look more professional!

These are almost exactly what you would expect. Note that the description says the covers hold up to 20 pages. They're not kidding. More won't fit.

The only problem I have with these covers is that along the inside seam on both sides there are three small clear plastic semi-circles. They appear to have no function, get in the way when we're trying to insert our papers, and will annoy me every single time I use these covers.

It is a minor enough annoyance so that I will not return the entire box. But if I had to do it again, I would try a different company's report covers.

I had ordered the same folders about a year or so ago and loved them, but when I ordered these they are made of different material and really hard to work with as they are of thin material. That is the only way I can explain it.. I am sorry but If the folders are not changed back to the ones I ordered first, I will not be ordering any more of them. Sorry

We have four kids from middle school to college age, so there are lots of printed reports to turn in each school year. Most teachers don't require a cover for reports, but we like to take the extra step of binding a report in a cover for a professional presentation. Teachers appreciate when a student takes pride in their work, and it shows in their grade.

These Avery covers are perfect for the job. They work best if you have more than 5 sheets of paper in them, but once the side bar is slid on the cover, the papers are securely held in place. A pack of 50 will last for years, but they're a good investment in our kids' education.

read several reviews - as good as the box I had from Staples. The three punched holes seem to be to help keep the spline from being pulled off as they get behind the lip and help hold it on (still plenty easy to slide it off the end if needed) They work great for what they are intended to do -- keep a group of papers together and easily accessable

Well you can get them to work but there is a reason they are a bargain. I was in a hurry and I opened the box and tried to put my papers in this and it was flimsy and I couldn't get the slider opened up and on the slippery plastic and my wad of papers. However after a bit I got and it remained functional which is what I care about the most.

Its sad that these report covers are so hard to find now. Do people not write reports anymore in school? Anyway, its great and I'm glad I found this. I only gave it 4 stars though cause the bar slides off much easier making your pages come loose. The old report covers didn't do that.
