Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Kakuto Chojin delivers a new level of realism where no two fights are the same, and there are no canned reactions: every punch, kick, and counter has a different effect. Heads snap back, sweat flies, muscles flex, legs buckle. Up to four fighters can engage in the action at the same time--go two-on-two or have an all out four-person brawl. Forget fighting pretty boys and supermodels. These are the folks you never want to meet in a dark alley. These fighters are tough--right out of some secret fight club. This is a grim, somber, deadly underworld, where fighters move among the shadows and battles take place on rain-soaked rooftops, dark alleys, and mysterious chambers.

Product Description

Kakuto Chojin takes you into the dark and seamy underworld of the pit fighter! Support for 5.1 Dolby Digital

2.0 out of 5 stars A Simple But Uninnovative Game, November 14, 2002
By DragonAGB (Phoenix, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
Kakuto Chojin is a Microsoft game that tries to fill the many empty spots that X-Box has for fighting games. Is it successful in its attempt? Well, let me tell you the pros and cons of this game.

Let's start with the pros. The brightest star in this game is its really simple control scheme. You can pick up the game and start winning fights right away even if you are not used to playing fighting games. The graphic is decent - it's nowhere near Virtua Fighter 4 in its quality, but it is pretty good in its own right. The color pallette used here is darker to fit the storyline. You have two meters combined, one is your energy and the other one is another meter which when full allows you to execute super moves.

Now its time to talk about the cons. This game is definitely no Soul Calibur, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, or Dead or Alive in regards to graphics. The characters' moves are basically clones of Tekken and Virtua Fighter, especially the Capoera using character (like Christy Montiero and Eddy Gordo of Tekken) whose moves are almost exactly like those Tekken characters. Also, if you play a lot of fighting games, this game may be too easy for you, as many moves can be pulled off quite simply.

Right now the weakness of X-Box is in two categories: Fighting games and RPGs. This game is definitely not going to help the X-Box much in the fighting arena.

Definitely a rental if you're still interested in trying it out, but don't say I didn't warn you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Uh....yeah..., December 13, 2002
By "smokedout3000" (United States) - See all my reviews
If you have played fighting games before then this game is going to waste even your rental dollars.

1. Unimpressed with the visuals of the game myself. You can't see them for the most part, because there is too much distance and too many items packed into the visuals.

2. The fighting scheme was pretty simple, attack high, attack low, and repeat -- vary the pattern in an ad-hoc way to keep the AI off balance and victory!!

3. Multiplayer Whoop-a** session -- A nice thought. Like a pass in a basketball game that looks innovative and shows creativity, but gets stolen so does the intent of the multiplayer mode. If you've played first person shooters like Halo (where you can melee some up close in personal) then you will have a time looking at the tiny characters go at it in a battle royal. It actually reminded me of someone adding a multiplayer deathmatch mode to Hunter: The Reckoning as the game is currently played.

Overall just unimpressed and thoroughly bored with the game.

Game development: (1) Need an ENGAGING story (2)Everything else - gameplay, visuals, etc. need to be in the context of the story -- period. Game developers are selling fantasies or illusions where the player wants to be the character for the time that he or she is playing the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars DONT BELIEVE THE HATERS!, March 16, 2006
By Adam Wesley Johnson (Indianapolis, IN) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
First off, let me clear things up. I'm a fighter fan. I've played them all, and yes I consider myself an authority. When I'm not jamming out on Street Fighter, I'm playing some Neo Geo fighter that you've never heard of. Now let me say this: Kakuto is a fantastic, focused, and addictive 3D fighter. Alot of people like to say that this game is as deep as the kiddy pool, and that its all mash.. Thats total bull. If you want a masher, go play Tekken. This game has alot of neat features that reviewers always fail to mention. People should really play the ends and outs of a game before they start bashing and start throwing out 1 star ratings As you've probobly already read, the graphics are no joke. The characters are dark, creepy, and thick and are totally original. The same goes for the stages. If I had to complain about one thing, it would be that its not all that great 1 player. You have no fancy story modes, no unlockables, blah, blah, who cares! Your supposed to play fighting game with friends anyway! I could go on and on about how cool this game really is, but I wont.. Forget all the haters and their reviews, this is the hottest new fighter to come out in a long time. Snatch it up while you still can.
