I went back to listen to this the other day. Mr and Mrs Untrue and Guitar Man, got me to thinking. We don''t have anyone around anymore the caliber of Milton, Johnnie Taylor and Tyrone Davis. Good thing we've got discs like this to remind us how these guys left there hearts in the production room.

Little Milton's last Malaco CD pretty much sticks to the formula of his previous ones, but that does not mean it is a generic disc. Blues is dominant on the disc, notably the first four tracks including the autobiographical title track which features plenty of fine guitar playing, the straight ahead shuffle "Still Some Meat Left on This Bone" and the slow "Blues Tune Up". But there are some fine soul tracks as well, including the Tyrone Davis-style "You Were on the Right Street", the slow "I Could Have Saved Our Love", and "Mr. and Mrs. Untrue", a duet with Karen Brown. One flaw of the disc is Milton's choice to cover Paul Anka's "My Way", which even he can keep from being cheese.

Even after 13 albums for the label, Milton still followed the same formula as the others for this disc, and it worked great as usual.

This album has 2 or 3 ok/good tracks. THe rest is sheer nonsense! This album is to real blues what Diana Krall is to real Jazz.
