After comparing quality and cost of catalog envelopes, I decided on this one despite a review that there was no glue (I was going to use tape as a back-up anyway). I found that these envelopes had sufficient glue and held tight even without back-up tape -- I send items around the country (even used books that I resell on Amazon) and it can withstand media mail (which can take up to 14 days in the mail) with no problems whatsoever. Needless to say I'm saving my tape and very happy with this product.

It's exactly what you'd expect. Don't let the low price fool you. I've purchased other "inexpensive" envelopes only to discover that they're about as thin as tissue paper - these aren't like that. You can probably find "higher quality" envelopes out there, but if you're looking for basic envelopes that do the job, then get these.

I've used a couple dozen of these envelopes so far and have experienced no issues. Be aware that they use the new kind of adhesive that doesn't have a pull-off strip; simply folding the flap over and applying pressure seals it. I was a bit wary when first using them, but as long as you don't forget and fold over the tab before needing to seal it, you'll be fine. Will probably buy again.

The "Grip-Seal" on these envelopes is anything but! I bought these for sending newletters and after stuffing them into the envelopes and "sealing" them, the flaps all started unpealing. There were 70 envelopes, and I had to tape every one shut by hand!!! I was not a happy camper after that.

So, be aware that the "grip-seal" may not work as described and be prepared to tape these closed manually.

As far as quality of the envelopes themselves is concerned, I would probably give them a higher star rating since they seemed sturdy enough. And, once taped securely, they did the job. It's just the "grip-seal" that leaves a great deal to be desired---but, since that's why you pay for these, they have to be rated as terrible.

I am amazed at the quality of these envelopes for the price. I ran out of this size and happen to look on Amazon and decided to give them a try instead of getting out in the bad weather and going to an office supply store. At 15 cents apiece this is a great value.

These manila envelopes are big enough to fit letter size paper. They're thick and don't feel flimsy, but the glue doesn't hold evenly along the flap. They do seal well enough to mail, but it looks cheap the way parts of the flap will hang loose. If you need the clasp more than the seal, these envelopes will do just fine. There's nothing wrong with the clasps.
