Product Description

Product Description

The title says it all... this is the ultimate Saturn V rocket play set. The rocket is nearly 3 feet tall and separates into 8 separate pieces! The rocket features a sound chip for authentic launch countdown and liftoff sounds and provides "real-feel" launch vibrations. The Lunar Module is contained in a hidden compartment and has retractable landing gear and a hatch that opens to reveal the astronauts inside. The Lunar and Command Modules actually dock, just like the real vehicles. The set also includes a realistic launch pad, Moon landing base, and an astronaut training manual. The rocket requires two AA batteries, which are included. Because of the small parts, this toy is not recommended for children under three. Size: 3' tall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very realistic and fun, March 7, 2005
By Amy Z, Afterschooler (Northern Virginia, USA) - See all my reviews
My son has a great time with this Saturn V rocket. It comes apart in the appropriate stages and the lunar lander and command module fit together well and in the proper way. The pushbutton countdown feature is nice, though I would like it more if a second push were to turn off the sound (there is currently no way to stop the sound once it starts other than to wait until it is finished). The plastic parts are slightly bendable so we have not yet had a part snap off and break. My only complaint is that the stages break apart too easily, especially when the rocket is turned horizontal, and it is a bit difficult for my son to put it back together again. Despite this, he is still playing with it regularly three months after receiving it as a gift: high praise from a five-year-old.

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks great but build is not good., October 11, 2005

The saturn v rocket looks great and my 4y old son loves it. However, it is very poorly designed: the different stages are very hard to separate or put together even for an able adult, and at the same time the service module attachment to the 3rd stage is very FRAGILE. Needs to be redesigned.

My just-turned six-year-old opened the package and played with it for four hours! His one-year-old little brother also loves the count down and take off.
