Quality is not good. I cannot write on some parts of the papers, I tried on a few of them. The gel pens would not work on parts of the papers, but when I try it on a regular white paper, with the same gel pen, it has no problem. Packaging was unsealed and missing papers.

I bought a Spirograph, gel markers and this pack of black paper to give as a present. Wow, paper package of this ream was really torn up. There's no way I can give the pack as a present. It looked like they knew it was torn at the factory as they wrapped the whole thing with a loose plastic envelope. I did not notice the reviews about packaging before this or I would have chose another paper. I took pictures and will try to upload on here. The outer shipped box and the other contents were fine.
The paper is smooth like copier paper and a bit heavier and thicker but not construction paper heavy or thick. Good quality for everyday use and for kids to play with. For more formal card uses you might want to go a bit heavier than this.
