I was very happy to find these pink steno pads as I find steno pads very handy to take notes at conferences and seminars where I have to sit in a chair, not at a desk, and there is no writing surface. I wanted pink to go with all my breast cancer pink office supplies (these pink steno pads are not part of the breast cancer program, but I am not using that as part of the rating).

I love the idea of pink steno pads, and these are the only I have found, but I am unhappy with the variation in color, the perforation for tearing the pages being too low, and, in one case, the spiral wire extending beyond the pad. I'll discuss below.

I received four pads of paper and each pad has two wildly different shades of pink paper. There will be a batch of dark dusty rose (brownish pink, not very pretty) pages, then a few sheets of a lighter and brighter rose (much nicer), then back to the dusty rose.

Okay, the world is not going to end. No one is going to see these except me. But still, why not make it consistent? It's sloppy, and I deserve better.

Also, one of the four pads has a wire binding that extends far beyond the end of the pad. It's like it has two extra spirals hanging out. The wire is quite thick, and I was afraid to wreck a pair of scissors trying to cut it, so I took pliers and just tried to twist it up at the end so it doesn't catch on everything.

These sheets have an option to tear off not at the spiral, but at a perforation. The plus there is that you have a clean edge. The minus is that the perforation is too low, one-half inch below the top of the page, actually in the first full line. So if you naturally write on that first line and then want to tear at the perforation, you will lose that line.Read more ›

I really didn't need 4 steno notebooks, only 1 or 2, but I was willing to splurge on these because my home office is painted lavender and it would be fun to have matching stationery. However, when I opened the package, none of the 4 notebooks had orchid paper. Right on the cover of each notebook it says "80 orchid sheets" but inside is the same dull, pale green eye-ease paper that you see in most steno notebooks. I took a chance on these even though reviews of the other colors in this line were iffy. For example, I think on the pink ones someone wrote that the pink color was inconsistent, some sheets dark dusty rose, other lighter and brighter. Well, I didn't get any orchid color at all.

My second complaint has to do with lack of perforations. These are advertised as being perforated sheets, and the perforations are mentioned in reviews I've read of the other colors. However, mine are not perforated at all.

I could have spent a lot less money on plain old steno notebooks, but I paid extra and got... nothing.

Not a lot one can say about Steno pads, but I like these because they come in many different colors. I use them for notes and for writing short letters. I like the fact that the paper is perforated, so you can detach a sheet and have a nice clean sheet. You really can't go wrong here--they are great Steno pads!

If you write on your steno pads with a pencil then these are the pads for you but if you use an ink pen you might be disappointed.

The front and rear covers are relatively stiff and there are 80 pages.

Unfortunately, when I write on these pages with the ink pens that I use the ink bleeds slightly on the front and I can see bleed through on the backside - which makes it difficult to read if I write on the backside. Recycled paper may be good for some things, like toilet paper, but not for a writing surface.

The price is right but this product does not meet my needs.

The notebooks themselves are fine and will function for what I wanted, but I should have paid attention to the reviews because the paper inside is not even close to orchid in color--it is grayish blue. Will not be ordering again. Only reason I gave the product 2 stars is because product is usable and was shipped on time.

I love purple and looked forward to getting these. The cover said Orchid but the pages are an odd grey color. I will use them but not reorder. It seems the main appeal of this item is the color choices. Too bad the color seems to be a quality control problem. Reading the other reviews this seems to be a frequent complaint.

These steno pads are perfectly fine and I gave them away to someone who could use them. But they came up when I was doing a search for the ones which have a vinyl protective cover. I did find that item later and ordered them. So these are probably great if you don't care about the cover.
