I love my Accubat! This is the best baseball training tool I have ever purchased. I have used this product with my 7-8 year old baseball teams and it works great. I can get great distance and accuracy with little fatigue when praticing with my outfielders. And even though it is best for fly balls, you can also use it to deliver ground balls and line drives. It does take some practice to get used too, but it is worth it especially if you are not that good with the fungo bat. I would recommend this to all youth coaches.

If you are tired of throwing flyballs into the air for you child, or using the fungo bat, or even continually hitting with a real bat, then give this a try.

This is like a tennis racket, but much heavier. Young kids will not be able to use this to racket as it will be too heavy to swing and get the ball to fly properly (trust me, I've seen numerous 11 and under kids try it).

There is a proper way to hit the ball off the racket and it takes practice. Within about ten minutes you should be able to hit fly balls to your child. With more practice you get more accurate on where they go. The other thing you can use this bat for is hitting hard hit grounders. We will take the racket and bounce the ball down towards the ground and it makes the ball go screaming out like a hard hit grounder would fly off a bat. It's good for getting kids to work on grounder work without killing your arm.

I will admit my arm is a little sore after I use this for a 1/2 hour + just because it's a heavy racket, but it's so much better than swinging a bat over and over or throwing the balls. To be perfectly honest, it's fun to use this racket. My husband and I both like to be the one using it to give our son extra practice on fly balls and grounders.

My husband agrees that this is one of the best baseball tools we've ever bought. My son is much better at catching fly balls now because of it. I would highly recommend.

I have a little video review of my husband hitting fly balls to my son using the racket so you can get an idea of how to hit the racket so it sends the balls into the air.

I coach 5-6 year olds and was having trouble hitting good pop flies to the kids. We take our daughter to a trainer/coach who recommended either a tennis or racquetball racket. After searching Amazon, I bought the heavy duty version of the Accubat with the anticipation of several more years of coaching.

It's easy to use once you understand that you hit the ball out of your finger tips instead of tossing the ball up and swinging at it. The manual says it's like badminton. It's easy to control and doesn't take a lot of practice to be able to get the ball to go where you want it to go.

The interesting thing is that regular baseballs travel further than wiffle or sponge balls. I use sponge for our inexperienced kids and baseballs for the others.

It fits in the bottom of the gear bag (under the catcher's gear) just fine.

Some dad's gave me funny looks when I brought it out the first time. I just told them that I got over my own delusions of grandeur and decided getting a good fly ball to a place the kids could get it is much better than wasting everybody's time trying to make a good hit off the bat. Besides, it's been 25 years since I played ball (I'm 45) and I just don't have the skills anymore. Keeping practicing fun and moving along is more where my head is at these days. Getting old is "interesting" to say the least.

I can't say enough good things about the Accubat. Even if you were great in your day and still have good skills, you'll enjoy how much easier life is while using the Accubat.

Replacement string and fittings are available through the manufacturer. It would have been nice to pay a few extra dollars to have those included with the Accubat.

I bought an Accubat for this years Little League season. I recently had knee surgery and I unable to swing a fungo bat in the way I would like to. I read a few reviews on the Accubat and figured it was worth a $60 try. I absolutely love this product! You are able to place balls exactly where you wants with the motion of a tennis racquet swing. I have been completing infield and outfield practice with ease, getting some pop and the ball too! Most of my assistants coaches can't hit with the traditional fungo bat, but I am now able to assign my assistant coaches to the duty of hitting in practice while I am coaching in the field. The Accubat is a great tool that I highly recommend to coaches at any level!

This is my second season using the Accubat to hit fly balls for boys 10/11/12 year old baseball teams. I will keep my review short and focused on pros and cons
Pros:
1. Excels at hitting short to medium range fly balls. It is outstanding for this use. You can get that very high pop fly that is difficult to hit consistently with a fungo. Also delivers consistent line drives. It is a fantastic tool out to about 120 feet. Great for pre-game warm-ups when space is limited and you need to quickly, efficiently and accurately take fly ball practice. The only thing missing is the crack of the bat.
2. An excellent tool for hitting infield ground balls. If you are not accurate and consistent with a fungo, this is a tool that will improve the pace and focus of infield practice.
3. If you don't mind the slight disapproving glances from some purists, the Accubat will make you an indispensable part of baseball practice. I help my son's coach, I'm not a baseball coach. I don't think my son's coach would ever use the Accubat, but he frequently asks me, "Did you bring your racket?

Cons:
1. I find a limitation at about 120 feet to consistently and comfortably hit fly balls. Used it yesterday trying to bomb balls into the outfield and today my shoulder is aching. I did hit 3 buckets of balls, but struggled...a lot. I switched to a fungo and was immediately bombing balls over the boys heads. Every tool has limits.
2. The foam grip on the handle is garbage. When you order the Accubat include a bat grip in your order. It makes an enormous difference. Cut the foam off when you take it out of the box and apply the bat grip. Otherwise in 2-3 months the foam will be stretched and/or torn, the Accubat will be uncomfortable to use, and you will start avoiding using it. Put a grip on it and it will be much more comfortable.
