Product Description

Product Description

The AN-1000X powered monitor offers big sound to go with a big picture. It's a powerful partner for movie and video projectors, as well as video walls and monitors, computers and multimedia setups. It has inputs to accommodate all of them and a shielded-magnet speaker to prevent interference on video screens. But the AN-1000X is not only powerful, it's accurate. Response from 80Hz-20kHz makes the AN-1000X a popular monitor for sound studios and broadcast facilities. It even sees duty as a portable PA system handling crowds of up to 300. It has a rugged 50-watt MOSFET amplifier and a matched two-way speaker system with ferrofluid-cooled dome tweeter, all packed in a ported enclosure that's tuned for bass punch. The 1000X easily drives a companion speaker, too, like our AN-1001X. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent portable PA, bit pricey but does the job!, September 27, 2005
By Herr Frog (Washington DC area) - See all my reviews
I am a court reporter who works in a county courthouse where one of these takes the balanced output of a Shure mixer with 4 mics as input. I use the line output for my recordings, and the 50w speaker output fills the courtroom, which is sometimes packed. This little amp can, unlike most consumer hardware, actually deliver the wattage it claims, without terrible distortion. 50w is not a whole lot perhaps, but for mobile presentations, hearings, miked meetings, it is a perfect solution. It also takes line level rca input, and the balanced xlr input can be either line or mic level apparently -- I have never tried, but it has a switch for that. At the courthouse we use the line, and have a small mixer.

This guy weighs 11 lb, is smaller than a breadbox, but can provide decent audio for a large room full of people quite easily. For the size, this really delivers. Perfect for a mobile slideshow or PowerPoint.
