Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Equipped with a powerful yet quiet 550-watt vibration-free induction motor, this professional juice extractor quickly converts fresh fruits and vegetables into healthy, all-natural, pulp-free juice--a delicious alternative to store-bought varieties that often come laden with artificial sugar and preservatives. The unit's stainless-steel blade breaks down the fibers, while its centrifugal force spins the juice from the pulp and through a stainless-steel strainer before pouring the juice from the spout. Pulp remains in the strainer, which means greater juice extraction, but also the need for emptying periodically during juicing. Compost the pulp or, better yet, use it to flavor soups, sauces, breads, cakes, and more. Other thoughtful design details include internal mechanisms made of commercial-quality stainless steel, high-impact polycarbonate housing that disassembles easily, and dishwasher-safe parts for convenient cleanup. An optional citrus juicer attachment (model 8001) can be purchased separately, and an instruction book with a variety of recipes comes included. In a compact size that takes up minimal space on the counter, the juice extractor measures 9-1/4 by 9-1/4 by 12 inches and carries a five-year limited motor warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acme set the standard for juicers, June 10, 2005
By Joseph W. Keyes (Califon, New Jersey USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Acme was the standard for juicers when we purchased ours 15 years ago. It still does everything -- soft, hard, and green leafy vegetables, fruits, and root vegetables. The pulp from carrot and celery make the base for a great "un-chicken" salad.
The citrus attachment is a worthwhile accesssory for orange and grapefruit juices. It is rock-solid and has never needed any part repaired or replaced.

On the down side, it is heavy, bulky, a bit noisy. The newer juicers appear more ergonomic and boast more features, but I'm not sure if they can lay claim to the durablility of the Acme.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong, dependable, great value., September 28, 2004
I bought an Acme Juicerator in 1978, use it several times a week and it is still going strong! It works great, it's easy to use, and to clean. I highly recommend it. The strong motor and stainless steel disc blades powers through whatever I put in it, and the fresh juice is fabulous.

3.0 out of 5 stars solid build, not hassle free, March 28, 2008
By Joseph L. Kolb (harris, mn USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
i've had my acme 5001 for years. i agree it is well-built and sturdy. my main complaint is the filter sheets. you have to use these filter sheets (which are bleached) on it. once they start getting covered with pulp, you get less juice out of the machine. so, if you are doing a lot of juicing at once, you'll have to change filters, or, it will be like a King of Queens comedy episode were Doug goes through a bag of fruit for a couple drops of juice. (i have been told you can juice without the sheets.) cleaning it is a hassle too. i do own the citris attachment. it works great, though big and bulky. the shoot is small also and you have to cut cup things like apples or larger veggies. also very hard to clean. i would look into better designed juicers as there are plenty to choose from.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought mine in 1977
That would be 30 years of serious juicing, and it's still going strong. It powers through about anything you stuff in it, and it's heavy and stays where you put it. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great tasting juice
I love fresh juice. It is so good. This machine has no trouble juicing hard fruits and vegetables. It does get off balance when trying to juice softer fruits and vegetables. Read more
