Only after a bout with a recent lung infection was I informed that I have COPD. The doctor said that I have lost my "elasticity" in my lungs. Yes and unfortunately I am a life long smoker, and have only recently been very short of breath. I have cut back on smoking but I also want to strengthen my lungs. After much research did I purchase this product. I LOVE IT! I have noticed a huge difference in my breathing since doing the morning and evening exercises. Matter of fact, doing just one round of the 25 breaths using this unit has helped me take a deeper breath than I have in years. Do yourself a favor if you want to strengthen your lungs for whatever reason and buy this.

My wife is a weak breather when she sleeps, and she also has obstructive sleep apnea. When she would drop off to sleep (and she would many, many times at night) her air pathway would close and her breathing was too weak to pass the obstruction. Because of this situation, for a number of years she has been using a by-pap machine to keep her air way open.
Now enters this wonderful product into the picture! When I saw it for the first time, a light bulb went off in my head. She now uses the ultrabreathe every day and sleeps through the night without the by-pap.
We are saying good bye to expensive high-tech sleep studies and breathing equipment. Ultrabreathe may not cause everyone to achieve the result my wife has had, but it is well worth the effort and small expense to find out!

I'm no doctor, so I'm only writing this as someone with breathing problems.

Inhaling is mostly a passive function. So when you use this device, the muscles involved in inhaling are coaxed into being active. I can feel them working differently than they usually do, and it's quite a workout!

It's analogous to the benefit that a really bulked-up football player gets when he stretches. Most of the time he's contracting his muscles, but it's important that he lengthen them, too. In yoga, when you do any posture, you almost always follow up with a complementary position -- a counterposture. In both activities, maintaining flexibility doesn't only enhance your ability; it also helps prevent injury.

When I use this device, I can feel muscles that I don't usually feel, and they're getting stronger. It increases my stamina and helps me prevent the symptoms that usually accompany strenuous activity. It works beautifully for me.

Since oxygen is essential to our existence and we lose 40% of our lung capacity by age 50, I wanted something to increase my ability to get oxygen into my system. The Ultabreathe gives me a simple exercise I can do anywhere, anytime. I exercise regularly and found that this tool improved my breathing during exercise. I like to use it to warm-up before I exercise so my breathing is at it's optimum when I start my exercise. I like to use it to cool down, also. With this tool available I get more focused practice on my breathing technique. Healthy lungs are important. Most people do not realize that many studies have shown that lung capacity is an accurate predictor of longevity.

I bought this thing for my wife as an alternative to steroid inhalers and pills. She was diagnosed with bronchitis and then later, with asthma. I saw the pills that she was told to take and watched as she became dependent on that steroid inhaler, just to breathe at times. After doing some research on these conditions and what causes them, I deduces that if you increased the strength of your lungs, you could offset the affects of bronchitis and asthma. Especially since the drugs only treat the symptoms and not the lungs. So, enter this contraption.

My wife humored me after she finished her last batch of prescription pills but still held on to her inhaler, (just in case).. After two weeks of me making her do her daily 5 minute treatments, she got rid of the inhaler. Now she uses it ever couple of weeks (not as often as i would like), to maintain her breathing comfort but no more prescription pills or steroid inhalers. Happy ME..

She went back to the doctor a few months later and low and behold, no asthma, or bronchitis and no more medications.. Im not a doctor and by no means am I stating that this will be the same result for everyone. Im telling you about my experience with this item, why I bought it in the first place and the results that my wife experienced.

I will say that it is worth trying for anyone that has been diagnosed with asthma or bronchitis. It wont hurt you but if you feel yourself getting light headed when you do the exercises, you common sense and stop.. Go back to it when you feel better. It is an EXERCISE, and its targeted at the week muscles in your lungs.. If you cant do the full five minutes at first, work your way up to it like my did.. You will start to see and feel the results after about a week but dont stop and keep your inhaler until your doctor gives you the okay to stop using it..

My doctor suggested a device something like this to help improve my breathing. My understanding of my symptoms are that basically my breathing was too shallow and needed to be improved. After a little searching around I purchased the Ultrabreathe based on price and features. It is simple and easy to understand with the main control being an adjustment to increase or decrease the effort required to take a breath. This is important because if you are a shallow breather you will be surprised at how little lung power you are using and need to work up to the more strenuous levels. Think of it as barbells for your lungs.

Note: There are some very misleading and confusing reviews for this product that clearly were submitted by somebody with no knowledge of the product or it's purpose. If you have been told by a healthcare provider that you need to improve your breathing try the Ultrabreathe. It has helped me!
