Previous reviewer's information on this bit is incorrect. This bit is a designed to be used in a rotary hammer, not a chisel. It works very well at this job - won't cut through rebar (the carbide teeth catch in it, and you may damage the bit if you really try to push through it), but through any kind of masonry (I've used it on concrete, block, and brick) it moves very quickly and leaves extremely clean holes. No blowout in brick at all, great for making clean vent holes, etc.

Used it recently for the first time and it went through the brick nicely. Be careful however that your pilot hole matches up with the arbor bit on the core drill. The weight of the bit tends to pull it down as you drill. The bit is long also so it will go all the way through the depth of most brick walls. I haven't used the bit for long so I can't comment on how long it will last.

I have used the bit to install dryer vent piping in existing concrete foundations. This is a tool I would recommend be sure to have a water supply as it generates a great deal of dust when cutting.

mine broke after just a few uses. the shaft broke off right where it joins the actual core. it had been used only a couple of times. the teeth look brand new. it says made in Germany so I assume this is just a bad luck situation. when you look at the broken shaft it is obvious there was a defect in the metal.

I bought another and so far it has not broken.

I bought this bit to drill through concrete block. It worked like a hot knife through skin. The only change I would make to the design is to add a slot to push the material out of the bit.
