We are a small office, a machine shop. We run 4 part invoices through this printer, it seems to handle them well. Since this is a machine shop there is a lot of dust/dirt flying around this is hard on electronics. I've been using this about 4 mos now and so far so good. I didn't give it 5 stars because I have had it jam up once and I'm hoping that wont be a problem. This is a network printer and I have to say setting it up was simple, simple. Its easy to follow a couple of steps and boom your printer is on the network.

it works to print from my mac, which is the only real difference from the epson FX-890. The roller assembly jams up the pages since we use 7 part paper and it is too thick to be able to run through it. It makes it difficult to tear off and not screw up the machine. in general, there really needs to be more robust options for impact printers

UPDATE: Stopped working altogether on PCs and MACs that were networked to it after a few months. No apparent reason. The only Epson 890 still chugging after years of use. DON'T WASTE MONEY ON THIS JUNK!

I had the printer on the network and printing from Mac OS X (Snow Leopard) in 10 minutes. Use the Driver that comes with the Mac, "Epson 9-Pin Series". I can not compare the printer with other impact printers, but works fine.

Though the Amazon product description for this printer lists compatibility with OS X, be aware that according to Epson tech support, that compatibility is limited to OS X version 1.0 only. It will not work with any subsequent version (as this is being written the current OS X version is 10.4.9). Again according to Epson tech support, there are no plans to offer a printer driver for any OS X version beyond ver. 1.0.

The info was not clear as to the limitations of this printer. It accepts single sheet feeds only and not stacks and this is not realistically implemented on the printer. It is only suited for tractor feed paper.

Networking is problematic and required the services of a computer technician who struggled for four hours to get it working.

The printer as a hardware device seems OK, but the software is sub par. Also, in a mixed Mac-PC environment, it makes what is already a difficult situation, even more difficult to implement if you want one printer for the network.
