Total Block COTZ is mineral based, utilizing ultra-micronized titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as its active sunscreen ingredients. COTZ is excellent for the pediatric population and those with skin sensitive to ´organic chemical´ sunscreens or fragrances commonly found in other sunscreens. Waterproof and highly effective, this sunscreen is elegant, and leaves the skin soft. Sunscreens may block or absorb UV rays. Typically chemical sunscreens absorb the UV rays and in doing so may break down to undesired molecules - especially for those who have sensitive skin conditions as well as the pediatric population. Total Block therefore formulated a sunscreen with only Titanium and Zinc UV Blockers - otherwise known as COTZ. While other manufacturers have products that contain Titanium or Zinc, many of those also contain other chemicals that may effect sensitive individuals including children. This sunscreen provides SPF 58 protection against UVA and UVB. It is ideal for individuals with sun sensitive skin conditions such as lupus, rosacea, skin cancer, polymorphous light eruption as well as those on chemotherapy or other sun sensitive medications and those post laser treatments, that typical sunscreens just don´t work. This company, Fallence, makes very good sunscreen. You can buy their products from www.totalblock.com, but usually Amazon.com or other online stores sell them with much less prices.

This particular one is my favorite and is one of the very high quality products they make. It is the best for swimming or in a hot weather as it is waterproof. It is colorless and does not have any fragrance. Since I live in Miami and the Sun causes huge stains that must be removed surgically about once a year, this product reduce my problems. I wear this every day. I don't go out of house without it. It is not oily at all and stays on your skin in a very natural manner. There is nothing that causes allergy or skin irritation. You can use this product on very sensitive skin. It is as gentle as putting water on your skin. The active ingredients are only Titanium dioxide and Zinc oxide. In other words there is nothing organic in it.

Cosmetic doctors and dermatologist keep telling me to use this product or other Fallence products, but I was already using them before I was told to do so. It may be more expensive than other product you see in stores, but once I try this product I am not able to go back to the other not-so-good products. Regularly I send this product to my friends in Japan because they love it but they cannot get it in Japan. I believe this product is one of the reason why I often look 15 years younger than my actual age.

I have found that it stains my clothes, especially white shirts and shorts. I play tennis, and I have worn it several times. When I washed the clothes, I thought the sunscreen would come out, but it didn't. (I didn't get the totally clear one; this kind has a slight tint, about the color of women's makeup). I didn't use a pre-treatment before washing.

I have had many tropical vacations ruined since I had to stay out of the sun, or broke out in hives every trip from minimal exposure to the sun. Every vacation I would break out with sun bumps. NOT ANY MORE. This is the first sunscreen I've tried that actually works for me. Now I can go anywhere and enjoy my trip without itching and hiding under clothes and beach towels.
Worth every penny!
