Not a fan of homeopathic "remedies." To paraphrase Dr. Oliver Wendell Holmes, "if homeopathic medicine is so good for you, why don't we dump a bucketful in lake erie and treat the nation?"

As a physician myself, I've been treating this annoying eczematous rash for years with topical steroids, anesthetics, antifungals, antibiotics and interventional prayer and remembered having some calendula gel many years ago that was given to me by a friend who practices "CAM" (actually, she's a doctor of chinese medicine and mostly does acupuncture) so I figured what the heck and bought a tube.

So far it's working at least as well as any of the other products I've used. Itching's stopped, and so has some of the redness and pain.

Worth a try. Can't hurt. I'll be recommending this to my patients.

Radiation as cancer treatment creates burns which turn tissue to a bloody, raw, and painful mess. The radiation center
had prescribed Silvadene, which will cause the skin to peel and promotes healing. My son, a physical therapist who has done
a lot of wound debridement, gave me therapeutic grade Eucerin to use for moisturing. I was doing the recommended
regimen and making little progress toward actual healing, which I'd been told would take a very long time. And then a friend
gifted me with Boiron Calendula Gel, and the real healing began. My radiation oncologist, the RNs and the radiation technicians
could not believe how rapidly I healed from the 6.5 weeks of daily radiation.
It's always nice to heal quickly, but in my case, the affected area was large and included the whole 'sitting on saddle' area,
with continual irritation by necessary eliminations, and that made the miracle of this product triply or quadruply appreciated.
I'm reviewing for Amazon as a buyer due to replacing the original tube.
Initially, I was a little nervous to try this gel because I feared it would sting on burn when first applied to such raw situation.
It doesn't. It's soothing and dries fairly quickly. I found no negatives about using it and am grateful to Boiron for creating it, as
I did try Jurlique's version and had bad reaction. {I love Jurlique products and imagine this was an idiosyncratic reaction, perhaps
with that product not being intended for such a 'clinical' situation)
When day comes that I have a friend going through radiation, you can be certain I'll be 'paying it forward' with Boiron Calendula Gel.

I have 2 much adored Maltese dogs. One sometimes gets what appears to be a little allergy that shows up by some under-eye pinkness and irritation.
My vet suggested Calendula gel or cream.
I chose gel, thinking it would probably feel nice and cool on irritated skin. When it arrived, I put it on my own under-eyes to make sure it was gentle enough for my baby.
It felt so calming, with the lightest of natural scent. After a few days, his skin was back to normal, all healthy.

Ever have a cut and need something to help heal it? Ever get into the poison oak, or poison sumac? Have a rash, a cut? Well, I think I've covered every body here, because it is even effective on rough cuticles and similar skin disruptions... if I had eczema I'm sure I'd try it out on that. So, got cuts, hurts or wounds? Here's your remedy. First, stop any bleeding. Clean your hands, then your wound. Apply Calendula. It may feel a little sticky to you at first, but that doesn't last long. The gel is mostly for the rashes and burns, or small cuts. If you need Calendula for under a band aid, or use it instead of a band aid like I do, use the ointment form of Calendula. It seals the cut tight and keeps dirt out of the wound. I have had cuts heal in two days instead of ten. Honestly. Since we're all trying to get away from the anti-bacterial and anti-microbial, it's great to have something that is all natural and doesn't have added chemicals to it. I do hope that Boiron doesn't decide to change formula or sell to another company who has profit on their mind instead of quality, because the quality of this product is awesome. If they begin to add more ingredients, I'll be disappointed. Obviously, I use it often and highly recommend to all.

I try to adhere to a more holistic approach to medicine and so calendula is a staple in our household for cuts and burns and even for my dogs ears! My Chessie is prone to ear infections and I've found that calendula gel is a more natural alternative to treating it. I also use it on my dogs when they (like my kids) get a little cut or scrape.
