Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Hop a subway turnstile back into the golden age of baseball, when the Brooklyn Dodgers won the hearts of the city--and a nation. From your seat in the bleachers of Ebbets Field, watch as legends like Pee Wee Reese, Gil Hodges, Duke Snider and Roy Campanella take the field once more. Cheer on the definitive "America team" through decades of triumph, heartbreak and fans' cries of "Wait until next year!" Relive their undying rivalry against the New York Yankees and the Giants and be in the stands as Jackie Robinson makes history by breaking the game's color barrier.

Here's a comprehensive look at the beloved team--and your ticket to a summer-tinged era when "Dem Bums" reigned as kings of baseball!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Dodger fans, October 22, 2004
Very interesting look at the history of the Dodgers from their Brooklyn days. Great pieces about Jackie Robinson and Pee Wee Reese.

2.0 out of 5 stars Why is it always about Brooklyn?, June 18, 2004
By Harris Elleberg (Astoria, NY) - See all my reviews
All the other boroughs always get battered up on by Brooklyn and I want to know why that is. Like poor Queens. Astoria doesn't even have a poet laureate any more. You know how come that is? Because he moved to Brooklyn.

They need to make more DVDs about Astoria. They don't have to be about the Dodgers or nothing. They just shouldn't be about Brooklyn.
