Yes, it's a BMG compilation, but these are all original recordings, not cheesy re-recordings that all of us oldies collectors despise. I'd like to point out that for the money you will get some hard-to-find gems, plus Last Date/Floyd Kramer, GTO/Ronny & The Daytonas, and Baby The Rain Must Fall/Glenn Yarbrough are all difficult to find in their original versions. The ones available on iTunes are not the original recordings, so be advised. I highly recommend this three disc set if you are looking to fill out your digital oldies collection and want the original recordings. Liner notes are sparse, but you are given the name of the original labels.

Eclectic is the key word with this 3-disk compilation of "Sixties Classics". Every genre' is covered in this solid (and very inexpensive) collection. Pop, ballads, instrumentals, country, folk, bubble-gum, R&B, and rock are all present with hits from such well-known artists as, The Fifth Dimension, The Guess Who, Floyd Cramer, Henry Mancini, Jefferson Airplane, Neil Sedaka, and Harry Nilsson. Lots of "one-hit wonders" too, from groups including the Brooklyn Bridge, 1910 Fruitgum Co., The Youngbloods, The Lemon Pipers, and The Friends of Distinction. There's something for everyone!

As I stated earlier, the price is definitely right on this 30-song collection. So, even if you're only looking for 2 or 3 songs to fill out your '60s collection, this CD should meet your needs. For those that are looking to start a '60s collection, jump on this CD fast while it's still in circulation.

Perhaps the most important comment I can make about this album is that EVERY song is the original cut from the original artist. No "re-makes" or present-day re-recordings of these songs. No "Buyer Beware" warnings for this CD. RECOMMENDED!

I've been looking for Sopwith Camel's "Hello, Hello", everywhere. I figured it was too obsure to find. Not so. Once I saw that, along with Ketty Lester's terrific "Love Letters, "The End of the World", and the only song I know with a verb conjugation, " Grazing in the Grass", this collection sounded like a good bet. Some different selections, like Floyd Kramer's piano piece, "Last Date", " Moon River" by Henry Mancini, along with the usual rock staples like the Guess who and the Lovin' Spoonful. All original recordings by the original artists. Highly recommended, especially at this price.

This is a excellent value for a three cd set. I would have preferred a slightly different selection of songs, but isn't that always the way on any compilation. Even the ones that are advertised on tv for hundreds of dollars cannot meet everybody's taste. This is a good sampling with good ("new") sound. Some of the songs you may not have chosen, but they're not unpleasant to listen to - plus you can burn a top flight cd of your taste if you can't stand some of the selections. Some of the songs are rare & hard to find, which enhances the value.

This is the BEST oldies album I have found so far. I went to school in the sixties and listened to all of these songs on the radio. I have been searching for a few good albums that I wouldn't have to pay an arm an a leg to buy. I hit the jackpot with this one! Great songs!!

I try to get songs I still don't have on CD. This is the case with this CD Set. What I don't like is that most about these 1960's milti sets is that the could have much more tracks on each CD. They could get 20 tracks,or more on each CD. We are talking about songs from the 60's,now. Most are not over 3 mins.long. They could have use 2 CD's instead of 3,and still added more track....There I FEEL better, now! Anyway The price was right for the songs I didn't have.

Sopwith Camel, The Lemon Pipers, Gale Garnett, The Guess Who are some the first-rate and high chart action stuff here.

Quality sound here too (even the good-grief 1910 Fruitgum Co. 'Yummy') with minimal background tape hiss which on these older recordings can and is an on going issue.

Enjoy

PS Just listened to Yummy, Yummy, Yummy again...please BMG/Sony never use this track again: ever!
