Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Sony MDR-G94NC "Street Style" noise-canceling headphones provide excellent sound, trendy street style, and long-lasting comfort for your portable music pleasure. They reduce outside noise by up to 70 percent, and they come with 30 mm diameter drive units that are larger than many portable headphones in its class, to provide deeper bass, lower distortion and wider dynamic range. In fact, frequency response extends all the way down to 12 Hz. The phones are built with Neodymium magnets, which pack more magnetic energy per ounce than conventional Ferrite, Samarium Cobalt or Aluminum magnets, and help produce ample sound output (106 dB/mW sensitivity). The phones' Oxygen-free copper cord and gold-plated mini plug provide maximum conductivity and minimum noise, and its clever cord material helps reduce knots and tangles. There's even a small extension detachable extension cord that you can remove when using in a situation long cords would get in the way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice and Portable Noise cancelling headphones, July 14, 2004
By "hsv13" (Champaign, IL USA) - See all my reviews
I just got them three days back and I have to admit I like these a lot. First, from a design perspective they are just COOL. When all the other noise cancelling headphones (at least the good ones) are big and bulky, this one is easy to handle and use (behind the neck design) and it folds away for storage. The sound quality is good but cannot be compared to my Sennheiser HD-500 headphones. The noise cancelling function needs a AAA battery and does a good job (not exceptional). I tried them while mowing my lawn outside and they worked pretty damn good. All-in-all I am gonna be using these all the time when I am not at home since they are not as bulky to carry around as my Sennheisers. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars What I expected, January 8, 2005
By Brett W. "Nrbelex" (New York, USA) - See all my reviews
These headphones delivered exactly what I expected from a $41 set, good sound but lacking in the noise-cancellation department. The fabric cord with an extension piece is nice and the design makes it fun to wear. The switch for noise cancelling on/off is well located as it doesn't take up room on a seperate piece or on the cord and the foldable design makes the headphones relatively easy to transport with big pockets. Basicly, everything one can expect from Sony for $41. (Since flying with them I would change this to a 3 review... they just didn't deliver much with the noise cancelling.

3.0 out of 5 stars bulky, a little uncomfortable, August 15, 2005
these headphones are alright but id suggest that you save your money and buy something a little better. it uses active noise cancellation, which distorts the sound when theres loud noise and sounds awful if theres a lot of movement (noise cancellation is completely useless on anything less than a smooth road). noise cancellation only works for low frequencies, high pitched sounds are very audible while wearing these, but the noise cancellation does help. its also a little uncomfortable to wear after long periods of time because there is no cushioning for your ears and they are quite heavy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so good
These headphones do not stay on your ears. Maybe if they were like the other wrap arounds.
A good idea but more of a hinderance of keeping them on the ears.
