Awsome Football game for it's level of Games!, October 24, 2004

This is an awsome game, it is also good, no offense , but 50% of gamers are fat, cuz kids just don't get outside anymore with all the new video games, but this game is good exercise, and if you wanna play football and it turns out it is freezing or raining outside, you can play this instead. This game is very cool, and fun, you can really feel like your playin real football. But these are the downsides: When on offense ,you can only run the ball on straight downfield, no left or right, only about 20 NFL teams, not very good graphics, but it is good for its level of graphics for this level of game, it isn't an xbox, but good graphics for it's type. and one more downside, the pad moves alot, but it includes special stay in place sticky pads:) .All in all this is a cool game and gets you off the couch and on the field!

A really fun workout!, November 7, 2005
Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
I recently got this for Christmas, and I have to say it's a lot of fun. The technology is definitely not state of the art, but the game has a nostalgic feel, and it is VERY good exercise. By half-time in a 1 minute game, I am way more tired and sweating harder than I really care to admit. The game takes a while to get used to, and the users guide is not very helpful. For example, they don't really explain how to hike the ball, or throw (to hike the ball, simply make a throwing motion--move your arm forward like you were throwing; to throw, select L, R, or X with your foot on the foot-pad and make a throwing motion, to save you frustration later if you get this game.).
I wish the game manual would explain what the plays mean to someone who is not an expert at the game of football, but other than that, the game is great. I highly recommend it. That being said, some things to consider:
1) The game is best played on carpet for a couple of reasons. First, the mat tends to slide around on a hard floor like concrete (or I imagine tile, or wood though I have never played on these surfaces).
2) The game is best played barefoot. If you play in shoes, as it shows on the box or commercials, your feet will very quickly bend up the plastic on the mat, and there appears to be danger of damaging it. I'm not a fan of breaking stuff right out of the box, so I play it barefoot.
3) If you do play barefoot, another reason for playing on carpet is that on a hard floor the game can be hard on your feet. I played this some on concrete floors barefoot, and it was a killer on my feet. Carpet is fine though.
4) You'll want to drink lots of water before playing, and take into consideration that you will probably get tired and sweaty, so this isn't really a before bed or a big date sort of game. It's a workout with fun and nostalgic graphics thrown in.
All told, I'd rate this game very highly and recommend it to anyone who would like to get a fun workout.
Now if they'd only come out with more of these. I'd especially like to see the boxing game around here...

the game did not work out of the box. to start or play the game, you have to move the hand-held football, but ours did not work unless we shook it vigorously. the few times we did get the game to start, we again were faced with the same problem when it came time to throw a pass. only after shaking the ball vigorously would it read a pass thrown. not the experience we were expecting. graphics were lame. returning the unit today.
