I was worried with the many comments made by others who were unable to get this book to run on a newer operating system. On Window's XP the CD would not open so I followed the example from the software company following these steps:

First create a folder on your hard drive called Living books. Then create another folder within Living books folder titled "Little Monster at School". Open C drive and go to the DVD drive holding the CD, right click and open with explore. Copy the contents of the CD to the new folder on the hard drive. Find the file that is the application file (look for the iron of the monster). Right click, choose properties, select the compataility tab, change this to Windows 2000, Check the blocks for 256 color mode and 640 X 480 screen size. Click apply and close. Right click on the application icon again and select Send to Desktop (shortcut). Everything should work fine now without the use of the CD. Do this for ALL Living Books in newer operating systems...from windows XP and up.

I know this is alot of work but the books are worth the time. My kids love them all! Wish they'd write more! This story is very interactive and enjoyable!

The book came in almost new condition (bought used) and was a fun read and makes a good first time reading book for a child. I loved this book from my childhood and just had to buy a copy for my daughter. Great book about school and the different activities.

This product is over 20 years old! It doesn't work on modern PCs or Macs. Read the system requirements - Windows 3.1 or Macintosh PowerPC... Computers with these specifications are obsolete! Do NOT Buy! It won't work!

A little monster tells about his day at school and his new friend, Yally. Yally is a monster that doesn't want to do anything the onther monters want to do and doesn't seem to like anything. After art the other monsters give him compliments on his drawing. He then participate with the rest of the class in the rest of the day's activitie. I think this book shows how a little encouragement can boost someone's way of looking at things. It is very important for teachers to give encouragement to students

I really love all the Living Books series. My students thoroughly enjoy them. I did have problems, at first, opening it up using our Vista program. It only played the audio. But I followed the directions from the Customer Review in opening it up in a separate folder and changing the compatibility mode on my computer--and now it works. Thank you to the other customer for posting directions on how to set it up.
