We had an antique double bed that we wanted to convert to a queen bed. I ordered King's Brand 7-Leg Heavy Duty Adjustable Metal Bed Frame with Center Support Rug Rollers and Locking Wheels, Queen/Full/Full XL/Twin/Twin XL, Kings Brand Bed Frame Footboard Extension Brackets Set Attachment Kit - Twin/Full/Queen/King, and 2 (one set for headboard and one set for footboard) #65 Adapto-Hook Bolt-On to Hook-On Conversion Brackets for Headboard & Footboard Attachment, Set of 2. Note that the hooks on headboard conversion brackets are pointing UPWARD so the headboard actually slightly hangs on it so as to not carry the weight of the new box springs and mattress. To make the conversion from double to queen I mounted the headboard conversion brackets to the outside. All the pieces fit together perfectly and all required nuts, bolts and washer were included. Even the tools required were included. I did have to use my own screwdriver. From opening the boxes to putting the box spring and mattress on the new bed frame took approximately one hour. Admittedly I am somewhat mechanical but the assembly was really easy.

This set of adapters is great. If you have a full size frame, like an antique mahogany bed, it will let you support the head board and foot board on a new metal frame. It is designed with flexibility in mind. There are enough holes and slots to adjust for a perfect fit. It works very well on our newly acquired antique set.

I highly recommend this product to get the most out of old bedroom headboards and footboards. You will need two sets to do both. The quality is high and it comes with the bolts.

These are excellent brackets. Very well made and strong (been using them for almost a month). Multiple height adjustments which allowed us to lift headboard higher and put wooden risers underneath for looks so that headboard sat higher and displays better over pillows. It was not difficult for us to attach which we really appreciated! Instructions were thorough.

We have just had a metal bed frame and I have always wanted a 'real' bed. When I received my grandmother's bed naysayers abounded telling me we could not attach a full size headboard and footboard to our queen bed frame with confidence in strength. I continually find just what I need on Amazon and these brackets have made my day and the price was great. So, not only after 40 years of marriage do I finally have a headboard/footboard but I have my grandmother's with all my special memories.

I believe this is an excellent solution to anyone wanting to convert bed sizes easily and without damaging antique furniture!

I got the Adapto-Hook bolt on to Hook On Conversion to attach our head board to the iron frame and remove the wooden side rail, this device didn't make the conversion it came up short and couldn't be used. Check measurement before purchasing

The product works as described. It bolts on to my existing bed fame, and attaches to the headboard with it hooks.

The product description mentions lockwashers, which were not included, but they were not necessary. The enclosed nuts have nylon inserts, which locks them down just as well as lockwashers would. The manufacturer should update the documentation, however.

As described (both in the instructions and on the Amazon page), the headboard "floats" above the floor slightly. It is pretty much impossible for an adapter like this to be perfectly aligned, so either the headboard rests on the floor and lifts the rest of the frame (which would probably be bad for the frame, since it has its own feet) or it is lifted off the floor by the bracket. The only downside to this is that the headboard does wobble slightly. It doesn't seem unstable, and it isn't going to pop off, but it is noticeable. It is probably a good idea to move the headboard up against a wall, in order to minimize this motion.

The instructions don't mention tools, so I will. The screws are wide and flat-headed. The nuts have nylon locking inserts and can not be screwed down by hand, so you will require a wrench (adjustable, combination or socket) to hold it while turning the screw. Also note that, depending on the size of your headboard relative to the frame, there may not be room to fit a socket wrench in there while the board is on the hooks (and it will be very difficult to properly align the adapter if the board is not on the hooks.) A combination or adjustable wrench should be thin enough to fit between the adapter and the headboard so you can hold the nut while tightening the screw.Read more ›

After much research, I purchased this set of hooks to adapt an antique headboard to my contemporary frame (without using side rails that antique headboards were made to attach to). This did the job! Beware that your headboard will be a bit wobbly on these hooks, but they do get the headboard up. Overall, I'm pleased with this product.

Plenty of height adjustment and depending on how creative you get you can also get some left to right (or reverse) adjustment. No Problems so far but the hooks may not have the tolerance with all head/foot-boards. Your situation will vary from the next person. 1 set needed for headboard, and an additional needed for foot-boards.
