This trolley works great and was easy to install. I thought I needed the 100' line but actually only needed about 75' so instead of cutting the excess I ran it a different direction and can attach another lead to it for a short run. The plastic coating has held up very well and the nylon pulley is quiet. The lead is one long piece which let me install each end of the line high enough that I can walk under it across the yard with no problem. The included stops help keep Isis far enough away from the door so she can't jump on it when she wants in the house. I would highly recommend this product.

Made with generally high quality materials but like a chain, the weakest link is an issue. It's a very strong 100' cable and somewhat heavy as a result. I ran it between two large trees approx. 90' apart and connected it using the supplied hardware. The cable has a pre-attached spring at one end that is supposed to allow some give. Unfortunately, the spring is undersized based on the weight of the cable and is completely compressed even when the cable itself is not tightly strung. As a result, 4 days after installation when some 1-20 mph wind gusts flexed the trees (large, ~100+ feet tall) the pre-installed loop that attached the spring to the cable failed and the cable disconnected from one tree. Luckily, the trolley itself did not come off the cable and the dog did not escape.

I've since transitioned to a spring more in line with those you see on garage door openers to maintain some give. Keep in mind, this is for 50 pound and up dogs and I'm using it for our 22 pound 10 month old beagle. She's feisty and fast but certainly under the parameters for the device. So, it's a useful device but be aware that it has a weakness due to the mechanical stress potential in a standard installation and you might want to anticipate that with a stronger spring/relief mechanism. Beagles are affectionate and fun little dogs but they're easily distracted by scents and at risk of wandering off and into traffic. They're also so focused on sent that an invisible fence is only a slight distraction. If you go with standard fences then all the experts suggest you bury 6-12" of the bottom of the fence so they don't dig out. That's quite an expense for the range they need to exercise, hence the trolley approach -- but it needs some modification.

My dog is 75 pounds of speed and strength. He is ridiculously fast and has run through fences. This line kept up with him. We were renting a house with a fairly long back yard but no fences, but wanted our dog to be able to run relatively free. This line was long enough to go from the back door to one of the trees at the end of the yard. The one or two times my dog tested the strength of the line, it performed beatuifully. The only down side is that the pulley/wheel the lead is attached to did start to rust before too long. But it didn't slow my dog down, so it was not a big problem.

My 65 pound, 8-month Labrador broke the spring end (manufacturer assembled) of the cable on the THIRD use. The cable end I attached with U-clamps was fine. Unfortunately I could not find the clamps to fix it, so I returned the product. Although the cable may be heavy weight, the cable attachment cannot handle all dogs over 50 lbs as it says on the packaging. I will seek a super heavy weight product, although will first inspect the cable attachments before use.

I use this for my husky and have not had any real problems. The biggest issue is that it sags under its own weight (i have the 100ft cable) and with my husky pulling on it every few months I have to pull it tight and then retighten the clamps. Easy to install with one person pulling it tight and the other tighening the clamps. I also with the lead on it was longer, if you have it high enough to walk under then the dog has to run basically right under the line. (That could be a good or bad thing depending on your setup) Overall I am happy with my product.

This item works very well. I was very happy with the low price also. The lead coming down from the pulley is all one piece. I have another type of trolley system for my other dog and it has a metal pulley and a seperate lead that attaches to it. I like the seperate system a little better for its ability to accept other leads (either longer, shorter, replacements, etc.) But, this design is quieter, mainly due to the nylon material used, rather than metal. All in all, I would definetly recommend this product, particullarly based on the low price and great functionality.

I've got an Aussie shepherd on sloped property I can't fully fence, yet want to give him time and space to do his own thing without worrying about where he's gone and what he's getting into. I installed this run from the gable of a garden shed to a thick tree-branch over the driveway, following my own main course along several organic garden beds in aisles to the sides with tables and benches here and there. I am absolutely delighted with how well it has worked out. He frolics and races from one end to the other at top speed, only once in a while tangling his legs when leaping and wrestling and tossing his toys, but so far he's been able to work out of the tangles and keep going. This cable has not kinked like his other in-ground leads. There's just enough leeway in the run to let him comfortably into shady spots between gardens and under benches as the sun shifts through the day and the cable has not hung up on fences around the individual garden beds as I feared it might. The rig was easy to assemble and to adapt to the tree in a space a bit over 100' with some bungee extensions. The height is ideal, tall enough to be out of our way for adults (7')and short enough for the dog to have plenty of give without too much potential for entanglement, and the gray color fades very nicely into the environment. I am very pleased and extremely grateful for this product. It has blessedly met my needs and my dog's!
