I'm a swimmer, and I like to use chlorine-removing shampoos. There aren't too many products on the market these days. And 2 of them have wheat in them, which I'm allergic to. So what I do is add about 100 drops (about 2 tsp/10 ml) to a 12 oz bottle of my favorite shampoo, and mix well. I then use this as a chlorine-removing shampoo and body wash. It works really well.

The active ingredient in this, sodium thiosulfate, is an old chemical with a long history of safety. It is even used internally for cyanide poisoning. It is also the same substance that is used in expensive chlorine removing shampoos.

You can also add a few drops (5 or so) to a small sinkful of water, and use this to soak and rinse your bathing suit and accessories for a minute, removing chlorine from your gear. Then rinse in clean water and dry.

If you have a lot of chlorine in your tap water and don't want it to fade your clothes, you can add a teaspoon to your wash (and another tsp to the rinse) water to neutralize the chlorine. Keep in mind that the neutralization reaction creates sulfur compounds that you can smell - there's a slight sulfur smell. It's harmless.

This product is exactly what it says it is. It gets rid of the chlorine in tap water. It does not get rid of the ammonia like prime does, but it works well for the chlorine. However, be aware that the dosage starts at 20 gallons. I have a 5 gallon tank, so that number was waaaay too high for me. I contacted API and they told me to count how many drops it takes to fill the 1ml mark on the cap of the bottle and then divide that number by 20. This will give you how many drops is required per gallon. You need to buy an eye dropper for this. The bottle is made to be poured into the cap, so there is nothing with the bottle that allows you to make drops. I've used API water conditioner before and it works well. The price for this bottle is really cheap compared to other water conditioners and compared to store prices. I would have given it 5 stars, but I think it should mention in the description that the dosage starts at 20 gallons.

The only issue I have with this stuff is that it can be hard for small water changes. I have a 55 gallon tank, a 6 gallon and a 4 gallon. I usually do a 5 gallon water change biweekly in the big tank and a few gallons in the others. You use 1ml for 20 gallons or 5ml for 30 gallons. To do a 5 gallon or less I try to just get a small few drops. My dosing is not to accurate, but I am hoping that too much won't be bad.
So on the good side this bottle will last you for a very long time! and I have not had any fresh water fish die or frogs.
If you are doing small water changes you might want to get a eye dropper or something.

pun intended.

This solution is a solution to my weekly fish tank vacuum and 10-20% water replacement task. I do not have to go and purchase cloromine free water. I use tap water and add this conditioner to the gallon jugs before putting into the tank. I've been using this product successfully for over a year now and will continue to use it. You will also be pleased.

I use this for my turtle (40) and goldfish (20) tanks. I need to do cleanings every couple of weeks for the turtle so need a conditioner that uses less per gallon. This is awesome for that! I won't need to constantly buy more conditioner. I'll definitely continue using this, especially when I get my bigger tanks!

Needed more water conditioner quickly and this arrived to my doorstep in 2 days as promised with Prime. Great price for this large 16 oz bottle. The smaller bottle cost me the same amount from my local fish store. Can't beat the price or convenience.

I didn't purchase this for an aquarium. I wanted to see if it would take the chlorine out of my swimsuit. I first rinse the suit in cold water, then add about 5 or so drops of the API to a small basin of water, swish the suit around and let soak for a couple of minutes. Then rinse in clean tap water. I am amazed that there is very very little chlorine smell in the suit after rinsing with this product. I hope it makes the swimsuit last longer.

Great price for this size compare to Walmart or petsmart! Will definitely buy this stuff again and I highly recommend it every time you do a water change in your tank.
