Overview:
I strongly advise anyone trying to fight ich to do some research on it's lifecycle before buying this product. I cannot deny that it works, but it did not work as fast as it claims (I do not think anything can) and it took me an entire bottle (and an entire bottle of Jungle Ich) to fix my problem. I should also mention that I had to buy a heater to increase the temperature to 86F which is probably played a bigger role in eradicated this parasite. My mystery snails did not tolerate the treatment very well. I followed the directions *exactly* as stated, but repeated when my fish still had ich until gone (the instruction did not say to repeat, I just did it since the produce didn't technically do what it claimed). Truly, the best way to keep ich from your tank is to keep the ammonia and nitrate/nitrites down by maintaining a good biological filter so your fish do not get sick and to increase the temperature to 86F where it cannot reproduce but your fish can tolerate for a few weeks.

Pros:
1.) Makes your water inhospitable for the parasite to survive.
2.) Aids in removing ich from tank.
3.) None of my fish died while using this, which I cannot say for ANY other chemical intervention I have used.

Cons:
1.) Does not kill ich in 48 hours or less like it says, I don't think anything can.
2.) Although it warns about this, it turns your water blue and stains the rubber gasket lining and other silicone things in your aquarium. It stained harder, non-rubber decor initially, but the stains have since dissipated.
3.) Absolutely not friendly for snails. I have used malachite green in my tank from other brands and they have never been affected, but this stuff seems to poison them.Read more ›

This worked well. I find it fascinating that there are so many people out there who know nothing about the life-cycle of ich. People expect a miracle cure in two days and that is not possible. There are three stages in the life cycle and the parasite can not be killed in the first stage. You must vacuum the gravel and treat for two weeks. Be a responsible fish owner and do some research.

Before i was able to get this 4 of my fish died due to Ick . I treated the tank with this and the remaining fishes have stopped trashing about rubbing against every thing that in my tank. . Have yet to try praguard but will be using it on my second tank as a precautionary measurement.

Firstly, fish diseases are difficult to diagnose and treat. That, unfortunately, is the nature of the hobby. It's not to say that people who lost fish, even with use of this product, are wrong to blame the product. However, I would suspect that they would have lost those fish whether they used this medication or not, because they were just too far gone (even if they weren't necessarily showing symptoms).

I've treated many different fish sicknesses over the years and I must say, they frequently don't work, or at least don't work as well as reported.

That was not the case with the product. I had tried heat (85F) and salt for two days, with no affect. I finally went out and bought this, used it as instructed, and then had no visible infection within 12 hours.

It's not a miracle cure, but in my case, it certainly saved many of my fish. And, to my happiness, it didn't kill or maim my scaleless fish either (which it does warn about).

I will have to report back on whether it works on velvet as is reported on the bottle.

Worked EXCELLENT. first sign of ich i raised the temp to 81 and began treatment as directions said. Within first 48 hours all the spots were gone from fish, i retreated and left temp at 81. Changed 10% of the water at 48 hours and 25% after 4th day. All 19 of my fish pulled through with no issues. Would recommend! Important part is at first sign of issue.

This item is a great when treating your aquarium for Ich. It has help my fish multiple times, just be aware that this isn't a super cure. It just allows you to cut the dosage time of many products in a couple days. What this means is that your fish will receive a "higher" dosage of the medication. So, look on the back of the bottle and follow the instructions carefully. Make sure you get some aquarium salt to help with scratching along the gravel, sand, and decor. Also, make sure you increase airflow within the tank. The medication puts a strain on the fish, increasing airflow or adding another air-stone will greatly help your odds.

I have over 100+ fish in 8 aquarium tanks in my house. I have lost fish even during the process of dosing them. Sometimes the ich outbreak is too out-of-control to handle. May good odds be in your favor and your fish.

Wow! My fish were goners. A new leopard sucker fish obtained from my local tropical fish store infected my fish tank. Within three days the new fish was dead and tested water to find that my "nitrite" also had spiked--had never had a problem ever with anything being off in my tank. For two days after the first treatment, they laid together on the bottom of tank not moving--breathing lightly and not moving--we thought for sure they were going to die. I took a picture of my fish which I will post if I can figure out how to get it uploaded. (Look for "ImperfectSTORM" posts.) Tropical Fish store advised 20% water changes daily until under control--which meant that I had to add a small dose to the 20% of the water I was adding back in. Performed water changes daily just to keep the nitrite from killing the fish. Used StressZyme+ to help get the biological filter back in order which has taken six days. On day # 6 now, after second dose and the fish are now coming back to life and the ick spots are falling off. Now feeding a pea or two once a day and they would eat it and go back and lay on the bottom. During days 4 and 5 they were darting about--jerking hard and fast--I assume to shake off the Ick spots. Over half of the spots are now gone, but the fish are now swimming around, begging for food, and the Nitrite now down to almost zero. I can't say enough about how amazed I am that these fish are alive...One other thing I did: PRAYED--so I do believe THAT also was a factor. On the fourth morning, my wife and I both thought these fish were dead...not moving...that night I prayed over them--as they were suffering. So PRAY and use this stuff--recipe for a Miracle!!
