We have zebra finches and it's frowned upon to use string as nesting material. This box was all string. We did put it in their cage but they almost always ignored it and went straight for the Heritage Farms Bird Nester nesting material. It's much more natural.

Our zebra finches absolutely love this nesting material. It's a pretty small box so they went through it in a couple of days, so I would buy a couple. The zebra finches love to build their nest, though, so they will go through whatever I give them.

its pretty much cut up pieces of string.. I could be sting from the store cheaper and cut it up.. it comes with a fancy box that you can clip to the cage and it has a area where you pop out a hole in the box so the birds can get the string.

Good product, but cost must mainly be in packaging as there is so little inside (again, though, product is exactly as advertised so not a complaint). Better alternative: Use cotton twine at home and cut into lengths for same results and much, much cheaper!

I highly don't recommend this product! two days ago I found that one of the baby canary was stuck inside the nest because these string were twisted and tied around his legs. Now the baby bird cannot stand up and probably will die.....

I bought this for my zebra finches. They are interested in it but only to drag it all over and drop it on the bottom of the cage. Guess they aren't interested in nesting right now. lol the product itself is fine, and would be perfect if they wanted to make a nest.

PLEASE don't get this material!! If you are set to buy it PLEASE keep an eye on your birds.The strings got wrapped around my finches foot when she was making her nest.If she got tangled in it could you imagine what could have happened to the babies?
