My guitar is an '06, custom shop '58 Les Paul Reissue. The guitar came stock with Burstbuckers #1 (neck) and #2 (bridge) The guitar itself has a fantastic "woody tone" to it, (plugged & unplugged) that you don't find in the Gibson USA models. (I also own a 2013 Les Paul Traditional which I love, but it doesn't compare to the '58 RI) From day one, I found the stock pups to be very harsh sounding, even with the guitar volume on 6 and plugged into a very clean amp, but I was fighting to leave the guitar "stock." When I bought the LP Traditional last year it came stock with the '57 pups, WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!!! Clarity, harmonics, note detail .......................... it was all there and yet it still had the "Les Paul Balls" that we've all come to know.

I was so impressed with the '57 pups that I said; "Screw keeping the '58 RI stock, I'm putting these '57's into it," and so I did. I bought the '57's from Amazon, (best price out there!) and brought my guitar and new pups to the Luthier (Cris Mirabella) that works on all of my stuff. I SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS YEARS AGO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When Cris handed me back the guitar he looked at me, smiled and said; "I think you're really gonna love this."

Love this .................................. is an understatement! The guitar still sounds "massive," but the clarity, harmonics and note detail that come out of it are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I put the '57 Classic in the neck and the '57 Classic Plus into the bridge, a PERFECT MATCH! Don't make yourself crazy with all these "hi end" pickup manufacturers, these are definitely "boutique quality"
pups, made by Gibson for Gibson Guitars.

I stuck this in the neck of an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. It made a huge improvement in the sound of the guitar. The tone is much fuller and clearer now. The stock Epiphone pickups have such a muddy sound. These sound so clear. You can really get a variety of tones out of these if you play with the tone and volume knobs.

I paired this with a 57 classic plus in the bridge. I probably should have gone with a 57 classic in the neck and Burstbucker 3 in the bridge like they do on the new Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro model.

Just FYI, they came with the mounting hardware and they fit the guitar without having to modify them at all. I was able to just drop them right in.

I've owned other Gibson pickups. Compared to the Burstbucker 2, I would say the 57 classic sounds a bit more mellow. I find myself playing clean a lot more often when I'm playing my Epiphone now. These aren't great for metal, but they sound great for classic rock, rockabilly and blues. My Epiphone is my 'go to' guitar now.

I paid 90 for these, but I've seen them go for as little as 80 and as much as 110 on Amazon. Its probably worth shopping around until you find a good price.

5/5 all around.

Someone replaced the stock 57 classic out of the SG I bought used. Don't know what it was, but it didn't match the other 57 classic in the bridge, so I replaced the odd ball with this one so they were the same. Sounds GREAT. If you have an SG, I highly recommend them. Of course it came with them, so it should have them anyway. But if the guy who had your SG before you removed the stock pickups, put them back and enjoy!

Installed this into an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus. Originally replaced the pickups with uncovered Seymour Duncan SH-1's, though the guitar can with covered pickups.

Liked it for a while (5 years, to be exact), but, having bought a 2012 Gibson LP Standard Plus, and it having burstbucker pro's, I figured I'd show the Epi a bit of love and swap to some covered pickups, and, why not Gibson 57 Cl/Cl+?

Yes, I know, I could have just bought some covers, soldered them on, and potted them myself, but, that's a PITA I didn't want to deal with. These are already potted.

Removed the SH1's, installed these, and there's a difference - these are a bit 'hotter'. Granted, that could be pickup-string distance differences, but, overall, I still think it was an improvement. No matter, asthetically the Epi looks better, though tonally it can't touch the Gibson.

Still, as a grab it, play the crap out of it and put it away wet, the Epi is a bit more friendly to that kind of treatment, and if i ding it, I won't shed nearly as many tears...hence why I still have it....plus it's a good comparison to what I thought was a pretty good guitar...

I know these aren't Burstbuckers (1/2/3) or Burstbucker Pros, BBs are "scatter-wound", which I guess means they're wound randomly (but probably the same number of turns), and unevenly wound coils - meaning one coil has more winds than the other, which give the BB's more "bite", where the 57 CL/CL+ would be more "smooth/creamy"

-1 star because they ARE so expensive, even though here they had the best price I could find easily.

This is probably the first humbucker I have ever liked. I put this in my Gibson Les Paul studio and just upped it to the real thing. The original bridge pickup sounded cheap and had too much gain, this one is smooth and sounds like a real les paul now. It will do what you want it to, throw on some gain or keep it clean, it sounds amazing. For 100 bucks and free prime shipping, you cant afford not to try it.
