This was my first time purchasing a shampoo specifically for black or dark coat dogs. I used this on my lab/chow who is mostly black but has a lot of brown undertones. Initially I was a little put off by the smell, the boysenberry seemed a little to sweet to put on a dog, but after his bath he smelled great- not too perfumy at all. I definitely noticed the difference this shampoo made on his coat! He is so shiny and healthy looking now, I will continue to use this product. Its been about 2 weeks since his bath and he is still shiny and smells clean.

This a MUST have for black/brown dogs

I bought this shampoo for my poodle hoping it would help maintain my dog's black coat which has started to fade. Although the shampoo still makes her look gray, she's never been softer and her dandruff went away. The smell doesn't last long ~ my dog still smells like a dog about an hour after drying. I'd buy this again.

I have never bought a specific color coat shampoo before and thought why not try it. My dog is black but on the sides she has black/brown coat. I don't care for the smell, but it didn't linger on her coat long and it was just a hint of the smell on it. Her coat has been shiny and soft ever since. I recommend this product.

I love this dog shampoo! I'm not sure what it does exactly for black dogs in particular, but it makes my dog extra shiny. This is the only shampoo I will use because it's easy rinse. It cuts bath time in half, and I don't have to worry about old soap being stuck on her skin like other shampoos. One thing to keep in mind, good skin and hair comes from inside, so shampoo isn't going to fix flakes, just lessen them. Feeding a good balanced diet will give them healthier, shinier hair. Some breeds are flakier than others, so you may always have some issues.

I got a new black lab mix pup and was hoping this would keep her coat nice and shiney..... Well it does, once you finally get your attention off all the flakes coming from her skin. She had a little flaking when I got her, but after using this, all you can see are flakes. Here is a picture that I took of her the morning after her bath with this.

It may have made my black labs coat slightly shinier, hard to say for sure because we feed him really good food and so he is already very shiny. Bottom line is if you want your black dog to shine, feed them good food, we feed our guy Blue wilderness.
Smells like berries, smell only lasts a couple days.
Lathers up good and rinses out easy.
I deducted a star because I think its somewhat a gimmick but I had to try it anyways, not like it cost more than normal shampoo.
He was dry and flaky after but there's other variable involved in that so I cant say for sure it was the shampoo
I'll probably try a different brand next time, I cant remember the last kind we used but it made him sooo soft.

It definitely washes out well, and it makes my tri-color corgi shine like a star, but I HATE the smell. I get diabetes just by the scent alone. It smells like pure sugar to me. After it's washed out, the scent fades a bit, and it IS a long lasting smell, but I would really like to find this particular brand in a different scent. So in summary, I love the effects, but hate the smell.
