This length blade was recommended by a professional pet groomer. I have a Miniature Schnauzer mix dog and was having a problem using attachments on the #10 blade...still couldn't get that smooth look I wanted. Bought this blade and it is perfect...not too long and not too short a cut. This length blade is difficult to find in pet stores...they generally stock a #4FC (their longest cut blade) and a #5FC blade, and a #8FC blade, in addition to the stock #10 blade which comes with the trimmers. I also found that the store prices are slightly higher than found at Amazon.com (especially since you can qualify for free shipping).

Great blade...love the AGC quick changeability of these type of blades. Since I trim 2 dogs and their coats require different length blades, I can change them in a snap without having to mess with screws, etc.

This length blade is a good all-around blade...it leaves just enough hair on your dog without getting close like the #10 does, and you don't have to mess around with the attachments (which I find to be a pain really).

I bought this blade for clipping my Affenpinscher/Miniature Schnauzer mix. It was recommended by a professional dog groomer to have this size blade to trim my dog during the winter months. Otherwise, I use a 7FC during Spring, Summer, and Fall months...getting her coat a little closer, but not too short. The #10 with attachments just didn't do the trick. However, getting the appropriate blade works perfectly. When purchasing these blades, make sure you buy the "finished cut" type, thus named "FC". Otherwise, the basic #blade will give you a rougher cut...not a smooth finish to the coat like most dog owners want. I absolutely love the easy changeability of these type blades. What else is nice...they are compatible with the Oster brand trimmer as well (although I have an Andis and recommend it...quiet and well made, also recommended by a professional groomer). You won't find a better price for these blades than ordering them from Amazon.com. I have checked many sites and stores. Bottom line...great product!!!

I tried to save some money and bought the Wahl haircutting kit (for humans) from Costco, and I can tell you that it was a waste of money. The cuts came out uneven and unprofessional looking. So, while I was at Petsmart, I watched the groomers there and paid attention to the type of cutters they were using: Andis cutters with Andis blades. Figuring that I could save the money in 3 haircuts + tips alone, I bought the Andis cutter. It comes with the #10 blade and I use it for the "sanitary cut" (what I call, "the peepee and poopoo areas"). I then bought the #5FC for giving the "summer cut" and the 3-3/4FC for longer cuts. I then searched youtube for videos on how to cut hair and experimented....And WOW, I started getting compliments after compliments - people ask me all the time where I get their hair cut, I tell them (proudly) that I do it myself. The trick is to get the right cutter and the right blade! I have two dogs and now I even do my family's and friends' pets too, and they would get the same compliments. Try it out, the worse that can happen is that your dogs would miss out on 3 salon haircuts.

I have a golden doodle, and have been home grooming for 4 years with the Andis blade 10 + clipper combs and 7FC. The blue plastic clip combs go through the hair fairly well, however seem flimsy. I decided to to try the 33/4 FC. It didn't work as expected. The blade wouldn't even go into my dogs well brushed hair. It appears this would be great for a straight haired or fine non-kinky hair. But for poodle hair that goes every which way before the tip, it will not work. It just gets stuck and hurts the animal.

The #10 blade is just too close a trim for my one dog, so I wanted his coat to be about 1/2 inch long all around. I was told by a professional groomer that the #3 is the longest blade that is available. When I saw this one, and that it left a 1/2 inch finished cut, I knew this was just what I needed. It is perfect. It works with the detachable head trimmers. It sure beats having to use the additional attachment combs on the standard #10 blade. The long combs on the attachments interfere with getting a close and smooth cut. This blade eliminates having to use the attachments, and it didn't get hot at all, even after trimming for 20 minutes. This is a good purchase. I also highly recommend the seller. The turn-around time was very fast.

I really do like the blades I have gotten, however I WISH that Amazon would not lump all the different blades into one review,
I would truly like to understand and hear about each different blade without having to search through the pile....
If you notice, the same reviews are on all the Andis blades no matter the size or style. I ended up buying the wrong blade
after reading the reviews, it was for a different blade and I did not notice, my fault, but still.

Excellent Andis craftsmanship and performance. Now trimming the paws of our standard poodle is a breeze (well... almost, I need more practice). Highly recommended for poodle's feet since the size of the blade allows for easier access to the hair between the toes and enough dept to reach all the way in. Just make sure to follow the directions when attaching the blade to the clippers: have the clippers ON so the blade fits correctly.
