Herm Sprenger fur saver collars are great tools for training. The oblong links make it so that you don't harm your puppy during training, yet they are effective. Our puppy actually loves having this collar put on. She knows that it means she gets to do more training. Nothing else has worked on our stubborn puppy, but this collar was a life-saver!

This fur saver works really well. You don't get quite the same correction as with a normal slip chain collar, but it does the trick. I found that I needed to order a larger size than the normal chain however, the links are much larger and if you order the exact size you need, it doesn't slip well.

I've been using Herm Sprenger fur saver collars for years... I've bought several of these in recent weeks, NONE of them are the quality of the older Herm Sprenger collars I've had at least 10 years. These collars also tend to run about 1.5" shorter than the original Herm Sprenger fur savers labeled as the same size. The 3mm collars are good for everyday or "show" appearances. If you are seriously training in Schutzhund, IPO, French Ring, Mondio, personal protection, etc then I'd invest a few extra dollars for the 4mm fur savers.

Very well made and cool looking collar but I have a White American Shepard and this collar temporarily turned the hair around his neck slightly yellow due to the amount of nickel in chrome plated steel - because my dog is apparently a little sensitive to nickel. Herm Sprenger warned this may happen. I bought him the Herm Sprenger stainless steel version and all is well.

This is a defective product. There was an extra link hanging off one of the links, which looked absolutely ridiculous. I can't believe this passed quality control! I had my husband cut the link off, and it's much better. It just makes me question whether this is an actual Herm Sprenger brand collar or some kind of knock off. The price is significantly cheaper than most other websites. Next time I will order from a store I know.
