I adopted two 2-year-old cats about a month ago, and have been experimenting to see what kind of toys they like best. So far, the Shimmer Balls are their favorites. They go nuts over these! I've gotten a few other balls that don't make any noise, which are mostly ignored...despite enticements like a flashing light, or wobbly rolling. Nope, it needs to make noise like these do. And they like the shiny. I like the shiny too, because it helps me find them when they've been batted behind a fake plant! Aside from batting them around on their own, they also love for me to toss them down the hallway so they can gallop after them. Neither are showing any inclination to fetch them back for me to do it again, though. Darn. ;) This means they crouch by them, looking between me and the ball impatiently, waiting for the slow human to come get it and throw it again. So the Shimmer Balls also encourage human exercise. *g*

Since they've already managed to permanently hide two of the balls after a couple of weeks, I can tell I'm going to need to keep a regular supply on hand. If I find them in a larger package, I'll be getting it. 5 claws up!

My cat was not amused at all by the toy. She just stares at it and then walks away. Maybe this would be perfect for kittens but not for my 4-year old cat. She is a mixture of a Egyptian Mau and short hair domestic. I don't know if it is the breed or it's just her. I'm giving it three stars because the ball seems very durable, however, I don't think they were worth the $4 I spent. Unfortunately, my cat didn't spend hours playing with it, so I'll keep searching.

My cat really likes these, but unfortunately they get lost really easy as they roll under couches and entertainment centers almost immediately. I spend more time looking for these than the cat get's to play with them. I found some fake fur covered bell balls that don't roll around so well which work much better as my cat gets to play with it longer. Plus, if these things hit a hard floor - i.e. the kitchen, they are LOUD! Wow, wake you up in the middle of the night loud.

The colors of the balls I received are slightly different from those in the picture, but that wasn't really important to me. The balls have been sturdy so far and have survived my cat chasing them all over the house on various types of flooring. They haven't scratched the floor either, which has been good. They're lightweight and easy for my cat to bat around, and the bells inside only entice him to chase them even more. If I ever need to, I'd definitely buy these again.

My two cats like the sound this toy makes as they hit it and it rolls down the hallways. My giant calico can use it to get some exercise. My 1 year old cat also likes to bat the toy balls and chase them. So, all in all, even somewhat sedentary cats will use and benefit from this toy.

My cats were briefly amused by these but they weren't keepers. Personally I appreciated that they didn't have bells like some such balls do -- nothing like tinkly bells in the middle of the night to keep you awake. They are still pretty loud, though.

The cat loves them, and they definitely make enough noise to keep her attention. They are relatively small though, and disappear under the couch quickly. Don't get these for your cat to play with when you're trying to sleep.
