This is WAY too small. Despite common misconceptions, bettas do NOT like to be kept in tiny containers. They do NOT live in small puddles their entire lives. They live in rice paddies that are flooded in the rainy season and slowly dry up. Bettas have adapted to survive in shallow water, but will not thrive in a cup.

Ammonia will build up quickly in a container like this. Also, the temperature will fluctuate. Bettas need clean fresh water and a stable tropical temperature. Failing to meet these needs will result in illness and eventually death.

If you want to keep a betta, there are many wonderful online resources. Do some research before you buy one of these amazing creatures!

Okay, you saw the picture. This poor betta has no space what-so-ever to swim. I keep my betta is a heated, underground filtrated 8 gallon hex. I think this tank is ridiculous. Bettas are tropical fish, and need a heated tank. You couldn't fit a heater in this 'tank' if you tried, and let alone fit a betta in here. Also, in a small tank bacteria will build up quickly and its excrements will dissolve and break down into nitrogen, and in this small tank, it will add up quickly, and soon your betta will be belly-up. I cannot emphasize enough about what a rip off this tank is. Trust me, use you 5 dollars wisely, and save them for a better tank. Your betta will thank you.

PLEASE DO NOT PUT A BETTA IN THIS "TANK"!!!! CLEARLY, there is not enough space for the fish to even move around. It is inhumane to put one fish in this, let alone TWO!!!!! Please do not buy this for your betta fish! Bettas need at least 1.5 gallons each.. at least!

Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to rethink their life. The size is a real problem. If you were to remove the divider, you can fit maybe one betta in, but no more than that. I needed this because I got a second betta fish from my biology lab and needed somewhere to put it where it wouldn't kill my old one. So I got this as a tank, but it is tiny. It served me for about three days until I could get a decent sized tank. If you are desperate, go ahead, but do not use this tank as a permanent living space for any fish at all (maybe shrimp though)

All I have to say is, if you are heartless enough to consider keeping a betta in this, save yourself the shipping and handling and put it in a 2liter soda bottle. I'm sure it would have more space to swim in that than in this.

The only reason to condsiter buying this if youre moving ,like an hour away from home ,and need a covered plastic tank to keep your fish from jumping away. This is not a suitable home for a living creature. If you changed the title to "temporary fish tank for moving" your reviews would be much more sugar- sweet.

Bettas need room in their tanks to swim around. Smaller tank

means stressed betta. Also, the smaller the tank the more water changes it needs. Not only is this a pain for the owner, but it is very stressful for the betta.

This is too small for a betta fish. I know it seems counterintuitive but most pet stores and suppliers are misinformed about bettas. Learn about betta fish and their care from breeders and enthusiasts (like the Nippy Fish site), NOT sellers. To dispel some common myths about bettas:

- They do not live in small dirty puddles in the wild. The recommended tank size is 5+ gallons. They need at LEAST 1 gallon, and 2.5 gallons and up is much better.
- They shouldn't be with or near other bettas unless breeding.
- They are carnivores and need carnivore fish food. They do not eat plants, and they shouldn't eat dried pellets, flakes or freeze-dried food, which bind them up.
- They need heated water (75-80°).
- They need a clean tank just like every other fish.
- A single betta with the correct supplies for living by itself will cost about $100. Or it can live in a larger aquarium with certain types of other fish.

Hope that helps!
