When I read the reviews, I was completely convinced to buy these. After going through elixers, exps, and various martin strings, I was getting desperate for a string that had deep bass and non-tinny high notes. I was actually getting frustrated. Then I remembered seeing these strings at Guitar Center. They were cheap, unlike the other strings I had bought, so I decided to take a risk. After restringing my guitar, I was amazed. The strings sounded bright and clear, the exact thing I was looking for. The strings sound extremely clear, yet rich, and I am pretty satisfied.

Just one complaint: The strings are advertised as medium light, which is 12-54. However, when I put the strings on, they felt much thinner. For example, the high e-string felt like it was 10 if not thinner. Maybe it's just me? I don't really know; it just felt strange to me.

Great string overall though!

I'm not sure if it's the combination of these strings and my acoustic simply the strings, but.. man. I've never heard my guitar sound the way it does with a fresh set of earthwoods... medium and lights all the way. I have yet to try any of the other earthwood set ups. I cringe when I have to put any other set of strings my acoustic.

Guitar strings....like all things in the guitar gear and gadget world every player is going to have a very strong opinion about one thing or another. I'm no different, but I won't bore you with a zealot like preference story of how my 30+ years of playing means anything to anyone.

Bottom line----great strings. Responsive, good vibration in the upper register even on the bass side with the low E, clear, and on my acoustic guitars they sound very chimey, if not almost bell like.

The strings also produce, at least to my ears, a well balanced tone across the lows, mids, and highs of the spectrum. My primary acoustics sound great with these strings, but my solid body acoustic piezo guitars sound great too. These gauges from 13 - 56 work well for me in my style of fingerpicking and percussive techniques. The tension is just right for me in that.

If you're a beginner, keep in mind that a lot of the sound is going to be dependant on your guitar set-up, the various wood combinations, and the way you play. Everybody has their own touch too, so don't think a new set of strings will be a miracle aid to your playing. I've been wishing for that my entire career!

For the more seasoned, from one player to another----give these strings a shot. I think they're pretty good. I can say I found a new favorite acoustic string. I'll be sticking with these for a while.

This set of strings is fantastic. I've been playing for over ten years now, and have tried everything from Elixirs, to D'Addario, to Martin, to John Pearse (you see where I'm going with this?)and many more.
I have to say that for the money, these strings are in a class of their own. When I first started playing I loved the coated strings. I wouldn't buy anything but Elixirs for years! Then I got married and money became tight, and for $15 a pop, a set Elixirs wasn't looking as good as they used to.
So I tried every other set of strings under the sun for about three years.
I finally landed on these Earthwoods by Ernie Ball. Amazing!
They are not coated, but after a while I got used to that, and now actually prefer non-coated strings.
These really do bring out the "earthy" tones of my dreadnought. And the Medium Light set is just perfect! Nice size high E string so I don't feel like I'm going to snap it when I do a pull off, and good bass response.
All in all a fantastic set of strings that you can't afford not to try.
And at $5, why wouldn't you give them a shot?

I went from a 3 pack of name brand light phosphor-bronze from d'Addario strings and I didn't like the sound at all, too muddy. I purchased the Ernie Ball Extra Light Earthood. They are great! The have an extra dynamic range that others don't have and the sound of each string is clear even when strummed!

I'm really satisfied with these strings. I had heard through word-of-mouth that Ernie Ball acoustic sets don't stand up to their electric sets, but I didn't find that to be true at all. These strings have a very rich sound, with the strings leaning to more of the treble spectrum than the bass spectrum. That being said, I didn't find the bass particularly lacking, just the treble sound more pronounced on these strings overall.

The feel of the strings is what you expect from Ernie Ball, very smooth and bends with a ten gauge E string are fairly easy, compared to a eleven or twelve stock string gauge.

This set includes a wound G, which is a bit harder to bend, but increases tuning stability and intonation. If you favor a unwound G, you can pickup a set of Ernie Ball 2008 Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Rock & Blues Acoustic String Set, (10 - 52), which have a bigger E string as well. People sometimes get these two sets confused.

In short, great strings with lovely tone and fantastic quality.

I retired a few years ago and got serious about my playing. I couldnt find the right strings for my Taylor and playing was either difficult and/or sounded wrong. So I spent the last year trying every string there is and spent a couple hundred doing it. I Now play the following:
Ernie Ball 2255 electric ex light
Ernie Ball 20477 silk and steel ex light (occasionally)
Ernie Ball 2006 ex light (yes this string)
I put a set of these on and they play like butter and sounded better than anything ive ever heard. period.
I gave away every other set i had laying around and ordered 5 more of these 2006's.
A year ago i read that all the pros use EB strings. I blew it off and spend hundreds on strings.
Save yourself time and alot of cash, try these in what ever weight you prefer. Older players will benefit from lighter strings.
