One of the pianists with whom I play has a large number of four-page music from which she works. I purchased this as a gift for her because of her continual frustration in keeping the music on her stand.

First, see the customer-supplied photos that I uploaded on the right side of this page. A picture is worth a thousand words, especially when the product photo (at the time of this review) does not portray just how clever this is.

You get a vinyl covered tri-fold folder that measures 11.5 x 15 inches out of the box. When you unfold it you will have three panels, like a binder, that measures 34 inches across by fifteen inches high. The rigidity of the folder comes when you fold up the two inch lip to fit over the music stand shelf. The entire folder is held in place by an elastic band. I said that a picture is worth a thousand words, and my written description is probably as muddled as the official product image. Please do give the images I uploaded a look, because they will make sense of this folder.

Bottom line: if you work with four-panel scores or sheet music this stand accessory will probably become your best friend. If you use it outside, a pair of Music Book Clips will secure them. At the time of this review this is going for about ten bucks. It's money well spent.

This is very handy for displaying up to four pages of sheet music on a standard music stand. The only drawback is that the "shelf", being hinged only with flexible plastic, doesn't want to go out to 90 degrees. This problem is easily overcome by folding the shelf in rather than out when collapsing the folder. (You'll understand when you see it.)

The standard photo shows this only partially open. I've included a photo of it "in use".

The bottom stays vertical in transportation, which makes it less cumbersome, and folds up to create a shelf.

In addition to using it as a stand extender, it is great to use with pianos. Flimsy papers on a piano can be SO frustrating, but this does the trick.

I am very happy with this purchase.

This item has made my stand into a perfect practice sanctuary!

To clarify one point of confusion amongst the questions: there is a horizontal crease across the bottom 2 inches or so up from the bottom edge of the folder. You can fold that 2 inch portion out flat and it will lie on the shelf of your stand, making it 34 inches wide, just as the folder essentially makes the stand 34 inches wide.

There is an elastic strap across the back when the folder is opened which you slide over your stand to keep the folder from falling. It is not tight, and it doesn't need to be. In fact, it would bend the folder backward if it it were tight. (One reviewer said she returned it because the strap was loose. That is not a defect, and it works fine.)

I now have on my stand at all times: 2 sheets or an open music book; my ipad mini with Tempo Slowmo app, the external speaker for my ipad; my tuner (I play cello, tune at least once a day, and sometimes play difficult passages with the tuner on.) I no longer have to put the tuner on the stand (obscuring music) to use it, then move it away. I no longer have to go find a stool on which to perch my ipad and speaker. Everything is right there, all set up in its own space. I also ordered the accessory shelf and with that on my stand, I have a convenient ledge on which to rest my bow. I already had the spring pencil holder, which I slid onto the bottom shelf of the folder. Perfection! This is a sturdy folder that transforms your stand into a very wide one. There are 3 clear half pockets into which you could slide your sheets, and you could fold the folder and take it with you. I plan to leave mine right where it is. Love it.

This item is a must for folks who want to put four pages of score (works best with one-sided prints) in front of them at the keyboard or on their regular 2-page music stand. It will open up to provide a flat area for the sheets to rest (or each being tucked into clear plastic holders) and thus allow your usual music stand to hold FOUR pages of score.

Here is a picture of this item on my Flikr account as it holds four pages of Oscar Peterson's 'Hogtown Blues' for piano:
[...]

I have received a lot of questions about it and am going to suggest the the company that they use a better picture... There is nothing technically complicated about this support (or stand) - the picture provided, however, is not correct because it appears to only be able to hold two sheets - it is just not completely unfolded. JUST THINK OF THIS ITEM AS A TYPICAL SHEET MUSIC HOLDER THAT ALLOWS 4 PAGES TO SIT ACROSS IT INSTEAD OF TWO. THAT EXPLAINS THE STAND. I keep receiving strange questions about how it works and there is really nothing to it. It sits on your typical music stand or your keyboard and allows four pages to be set on it. It is a permanent fixture on my keyboard.

I love it. Those one or two extra pages make all the difference in the world, and having four more pages tucked into the clear plastic holders lets eight pages be quite available for reading / playing. This has to be the greatest company in Yakima, Washington. Next time you visit Mt. Rainier, go through Yakima! It is a beautiful town and Canyon Drive is absolutely beautiful as well.
