This is one of the least expensive musical instruments I've ever bought, but its quality is far higher than its price would indicate. For a plastic instrument, the tone is quite pleasant (if necessarily shrill--it is a sopranino after all), and it doesn't clog often or easily (like my plastic Yamaha alto does). It comes with a leatherette case with a snap closure, a fingering chart, and a cleaning rod. Note that players with large hands/fat fingers may find this tiny instrument hard to finger properly; its total length is only 10 inches or so.

I bought the Aulos sopranino recorder after first buying an alto recorder. I was making good progress on learning the notes on the alto, but my arthritic fingers made it difficult to reach some of the holes and play notes properly. I bought the sopranino because the fingering is identical to the alto and the smaller size makes it much easier to reach all the holes. The Aolus sopranino is well made and has a beautiful sound. After being away from playing an instrument for many years, I'm back reading music and playing an instrument. Above all, I'm having fun with the sopranino.

I've been playing soprano and alto recorders for a few years, and thought I would try the sopranino. Since they are so inexpensive, I bought both the 2-piece Yamaha (YRN-302B) and the 3-piece Aulos (507B) sopranino recorders to compare them.

The Aulos recorder has a bit thicker body than the Yamaha, which I find easier to grip. I find the Aulos tone clearer and less shrill, particularly in the upper register than the Yamaha. Also, the Aulos recorder comes with a cleaning rod, a plastic storage case, and a very good fingering chart. The reverse side of the fingering chart shows suggested fingering for trills, a nice plus. (The Yamaha's chart doesn't have that). I also like the fact that the Aulos comes in 3 pieces. This allows you to rotate the end piece to better fit the shape of your hand. Cleaning the recorder is also easier with 3 small pieces than with 2.

All in all, I find the Aulos to be the superior instrument and highly recommend it.

The Aulos A507B Sopranino is wonderful. It sounds better than the Yamaha Rottenburgh style, which is a very good sounding recorder, but by comparison to the Aulos, sounds thin.
It has a nice mellow tone, and hits even the upper register nicely.
A great deal, and I would highly recommend it to any one looking into getting a sopranino.

I am extremely pleased with the playability and tone quality, given that any Sopranino is a high pitched, comparatively shrill instrument. This may not be a professional quality instrument -- I'm not a professional player and not fit to judge -- but I own quite a few resin recorders and the A507B is at least as good as any of them, of any size. My cheaper Yamaha Sopranino is painful to listen to in comparison. If you are specifically looking for a Sopranino, I recommend this one without reservation.

Delightful, the best recorder in my humble collection, of all the different brands and types I have (which include the Yamaha 300 series) and it is also the most in tune (the only F instrument that allows me to cleanly play a high F#!! in tune, if you ever tried to play that note, you know exactly what I mean). I may buy other high end aulos even though I already have yamaha versions, though for some reason the reviews on the Aulos altos are not quite as gushing as with the sopranino, we'll see.

I have not had the opportunity to try other sopraninos, but if you read the other reviews, you'll see why I chose this one. People love it! I love it! It's only about 10" and collapsible to 3 tiny parts which makes it really portable. It's fun to whip it out at the campfire or carry it in you pocket or purse. Seriously, if you're a nerd like me, you never know when you'll need to have it on you! Get it! It's inexpensive and fun and a really supreme value like all the Aulos recorders.

Remember! It's in the key of F.
