The "Dimpler" works great if you just want to hang a room or two. However, they wear out after about 500 screws.

I have owned this as well as another adjustable type dimpler. I really prefered this one over the adjustable type which was slightly wobbly and did not always hold an adjustment for very long. After only occasional non profesional use, This dimpler started popping open and dropping the bit. I may buy another but if it fails again I'll loose faith in this gadget.

I am putting 178 sheets of drywall up and was shopping drywall guns for efficiency and because I just love tools and tend to look for a reason to buy one. However after reading reviews and demoing a few different models the fantastic "You may also like" section shows me this little dandy.... based on the price alone I had to give it a try..... this thing is awesome I can use a battery powered drill as a drywall gun and it sinks the screws perfectly.... plus I saved so much I was able to pick up 2 other tools and still saved over the cost of a drywall gun.

I have had two of the Bosch D60498 Drywall Dimpler that had the front housing made out of "Bosch Blue" plastic when (not if) the plastic cracks the unit fails. The plastic housing contains a spring and the ball bearings that form the clutch mechanism, when it cracks the bearings are no longer retained like they should be and the clutch starts acting up. When the crack spreads it will eventually cause the front housing to come loose. The first example I had lasted about 10 sheets of drywall, the second lasted about 10 screws. If you get the version from Bosch or Vermont American (a Bosch company) that has the metal front housing like the one pictured on 9/20/2013 in this Amazon listing they last a good long time. My father has had his for years and for someone doing handyman work that does not do enough drywall to justify a dedicated drywall screw gun a good Dimpler is a GREAT TOOL!!! Remember Plastic housings do not make great dimplers.

How many screws do you want to drive? Less than a 100, go for it. More than that, spend the money elsewhere.

May be less than a 100 screws and the white ring around the bit popped out and now it doesn't work even if the ring is seated back.

Not only wasted the money and time, now I am back in the market searching for a better one to finish the job.

BOSCH?? Think again!

POOR QUALITY PRODUCT. Bosch definitely has a design flaw or quality issue with this product! It does only have a limited life of around 500 screws. The drive mechanism breaks down and it will no longer drive the screw. When I returned my first one to Lowes I could only find another on the shelf that had been previously opened and resealed. I took a chance and it was a BAD decision....It was also broken. Took it back to a different Lowes and all they had left were 2 previously opened and resealed blister packs that had been returned broken. I took them all to the Customer Service Desk and instructed the individual to note that they were all defective and should be returned to Bosch for Defective Product/ Failure Analysis and NOT just put back on the shelf and resold to another poor sap!! Don't waste your money until Bosch comes out with a new product design(CLEARLY MARKED ON THE PACKAGE!)

I don't know what I was doing wrong here, the dimpler didn't do much dimpling. In most instances it pierced the paper. Maybe user error? The big dissapointment was when my drill fell off the ladder... the simpler didn't survive the fall. I would expect Bosch to make work site rugged materials.

I drywalled my garage several weeks ago, for the first wall I used my 18V cordless drill to drive the drywall screws. While I was careful, a lot of screws went in too deep and tore through the facing paper. The clutch on my drill, while very sensitive, was either too much or too little so I had to drive the screws by eye. I wasn't about to spend hundreds of dollars for a dedicated drywall screw drill, so I bought the Bosch D60498. I finished the other two wall in record time and the Bosch screw setter worked flawlessly. I put my drill on high-speed, set the torque to maximum, and had at it. Every single screw was perfectly set. I am very happy with this purchase.
