If you own an Alesis DM10X, one of the best investments you can make is to use these Pearl mesh heads regardless of price (and in the big picture they are cheap). There are two major reasons why you should do this:
1. When you replace your OEM Alesis mylar drum heads you will find that the quality control of Alesis is lacking. I found the pads and trigger assemblies underneath the drum heads to be misaligned, the foam folded over or crushed. All I did was to straighten out and align the various foam pads and trigger assemblies and install the mesh heads. I DID NOT change the order of the foam pads because I did not think changing the pads that came with MY unit made sense. After looking at the YouTube videos on how to change the pads for better response, I saw that my Alesis drums were made differently (bought in Dec 2013) and foam were of different sizes and thicknesses of the foam on the video. For my situation, I left everything else alone.
2. The sound differences are quieter and feels better under the stick. Still not even close to real drums but it is better than the OEM mylar heads. The YouTube videos do not accurately record the differences that you hear in real life. There is a percussive audio difference that now doesn't carry as much to other rooms in the house. I use headphones and before I usually heard the sound from the physical hitting of the drums over the electronic triggered sounds. Now the physical hitting of the mesh heads is much less pronounced vs the electronic sounds.

Overall, replacing the Alesis mylar heads is well worth the time and small investment.

I bought these to replace the mylar heads on my digital kit. WOW what a difference! My kit came alive! Stick response is MUCH better. Sensitivity is MUCH improved! Now I can actually play ghost notes and have the control I need over the volume.
I only did my snare, but I assure you the rest are getting replaced post-haste . I could not be happier.
So far as durability goes...we will have to see.

I bought 2 of these and 2 of remos silentstroke heads. These are ok seam to be a little bit louder than the silentstroke heads and in my opinion produce to much bounce I think the silentstrokes feel more realistic. I am using them on a acoustic kit converted to electric. Haven't noticed any wear yet only time will tell.....

i own the 10,12,13,14 and 16 inch versions. i would highly recommend. The x2 versions made by other manufacturers is not necesary, but does help with durability. you can get 2 of these for the price of 1 competitors

Purchased these heads to build a subkick Microphone. it allows air to move through the drum and I get great resonance from the acoustic Kick making the sound come alive in front of the house through 18" Subs.

I am rating this item four stars based on it's intended use which is simply to allow a drummer to be able to play/practice drums quietly without disturbing neighbors or sleeping children. For that purpose I think it would do fine and seems to be pretty good for the price. I bought this because I wanted to use it on some V Drums I made hoping it would be close to the quality of the expensive Roland (Remo made) 2 ply mesh V Drum heads at a fraction of the price. For that purpose I do not think that this would do the job. It seems kind of thin. Even considering the fact that I am not an aggressive drummer (think Animal in The Muppets) I doubt that this drum head would last very long. As another option I would recommend looking into the new Remo "Silent Stroke" drum heads. They are basically the same as the V Drum heads only they are 1 ply instead of 2. While I have never played on one I have pulled one out of the box and looked at it. They are only a few dollars more than this one and seem quite a bit tougher.

Changed my alesis dm10 kit from acrylic heads to mesh using these. Way cheaper than other mesh heads and work, sound and feel similar to a Roland vdrum kit.

I used these to replace my mylar heads on my Alesis DM10 and they work GREAT! The stock heads suck and are very loud with no rebound. These mesh heads make it feel like a real drum set and give me the rebound i want without having to beat it up. Highly recommended!
