I've been a big fan of Neatsfoot oil for years. I use it religiously on everything from horse tack and riding boots to the leather in my cars. I will even use it on black or other dark shoes. The one drawback was the Neatsfoot oil tends to darken leathers. This product does not. Initially the leather will be darker, but once it dries, it's back to the original color.

I have previously used other Lexol products as well as leather conditioners from other brands, however this is by far the best one in terms of softening and protecting leather. I tried it first on a low quality leather jacket that's seen its fair share of downpours. Before I applied the neatsfoot lotion, the leather was a bit stiff, rough and crinkled a little like wax paper. After cleaning I applied a liberal amount of neatsfoot using an applicator sponge and allowed it to soak in for 4-6 hours. Then I wiped of the extra with a damp towel. This product not only softened the leather but also seemed to give it some more vitality and body. The surface is much smoother now and feels like much higher quality leather. Following this success I applied it to several shoes and found similarly positive results.

In comparison to Lexol's other leather conditioner, this product seems to penetrate deeper while leaving less residue. It more than noticeably improves the texture and softness of leather, whereas the other product's "conditioning" was barely noticeable. This means that it's great for applications where added softness and suppleness are desired, however on stiffer dress shoes (and possibly handbags) this product might make the leather too soft and prone to wrinkling around bending points. It also takes upward of a day to "dry", or get fully absorbed.

I love this product and highly recommend it!

After breeding and showing Quarterhorses for over 25 years, I have found this to be the best product for cleaning and conditioning leather, i.e. saddles and bridles, etc. I also have used it on my leather chairs and sofas for most of that period. It is the best product for that purpose. I tried many other products over the years but I have always returned to this one for the best and consistent results.

When it comes to restoring dried/cracked/worn leather, neatsfoot oil has always been one of the better treatments. With a gotcha. Traditional neatsfoot is, well, an oil and pretty messy. As in little pools remain in the cracks on car seats and stain your jeans when you sit in them hours later.

Lexol has solved that problem with a water soluble version of neatsfoot. It may not be quite as good as greasy original neatsfoot, but its pretty darn good at restoring worn leather car seats. Lets say 90% of the restoring ability of original oil, but far less hassle. If you use all three Lexol products (cleaner, then neatfoot while still wet, finally conditioner the next day) you will be quite pleased with the results.

I overpaid way too much for my wife's Mercedes to not take care of the leather seats properly. Growing up in horse country, I saw saddles used HARD for years that looked great because the saddle makers told us to use this. My Dentist used this every 4 months on his leather seats for 29 years and the leather NEVER cracked or needed repair-this is cheap insurance against a $500 seat repair bill.

My favorite leather leash came from Germany. It is almost 20 years old, has been left in the rain repeatedly (by accident! hey, I have kids!) and I have been using Lexol forever.

My Mephisto shoes keep supple and water resistant, and I use Lexol on all leathers; from my leather covered Bibles, to shoes, boots, and even my Swiss Army watchband! It preserves leather, cleans it, repairs cracks, and keeps leather strong.

I love quality leather and condition everything I own with Lexol products. ***** star product.

For those of you who show horses and have light colored saddles and tack -- this is the conditioner for you. I was skeptical, but tried it. It did not darken my saddle. It did a great job conditioning it.

After not wearing my ankle high Cole Haan shoes (pre Nike) and JM Westons for over almost 15 years, they were stiffer than cardboard and most certainly not wearable. They were hardly used before I stored them so they were almost new. I was searching for the right thing to use for a while before finding this. I didn't want to use pure neatsfoot as I didn't want to darken the interior leather. After 2 light applications, the leather softened up considerably to the point that I can wear them. I'll probably apply a few more times but this stuff works. My shoes smell new again as an added plus.
