That horrible over ring you get, especially when in the studio can really drive you nuts! I heard of these rings from another drummer, who swore by them, so I purchased them. I figured, when they didn't work, or muffled the sound of my drums, I'd just recycle them, or use the small one to help me cut holes in my front bass drum head. Well, I till have them.

How can something so thin, and seemingly fragile knock out the nasty overtones? It's just enough weight to do the job, while Not messing with the natural resonance of the head. They are Amazing. It's one of those, "Why didn't I invent these," kind of things.

They are simple, cheap, and very effective.

If you play with fans blowing on you, like some of us do, you might want to put a little post it note like stick-em on them, as they tend
to take off when the wind hits them. Otherwise, if you want to get rid of that nasty over ring, I would highly recommend these.

I used these on a beautiful drumset with tuned drums and it sounded great with no overtones. However the rings are not exactly the size of the drum, This is so they will rest on the drum and not be held up by the tension of the ring being squeezed into the hoop. Since they are cut to be just smaller than the hoop they will move. This subtle movement when you hit the drums causes a small vibration with a snare like sound. I simply taped them to the drum and it fixed the problem. I do not like putting tape on my drums. So I have moved on to using moongel instead and it sounds just as nice but not quite as dampened. So if you dont mind putting tape on your drums and really want less overtones than 1 moongel pad AND are willing to pay 3x as much as moongel... BUY THIS Thats my thoughts

Hardly hi-tech, these are the simplest way to deaden the sound and eliminate the ringing sound from your drums. Just lay them on the head and your are done, though you must either tape them down or remove them before transport or they are gone.

Had my doubts about these but they surprised me. They cancel lots of unpleasant ringing and resonance leaving most of the attack and primary resonance of the drums intact. Try these before going to the expense of changing heads

I thought this control rings were the perfect solution for cutting off harmonics and giving the drum a quieter and controlled sound, And they do, but the thing I didn't have in mind was that they don't stick to the drum head but rather just sit on it, so in my bigger toms they rattle every time I hit the drum and it is clearly listenable.
